I have found that too much sugar makes my neuropathy worse, has anyone else found this,I don’t have a lot of sugar in my diet but am finding myself checking all labels on food and drinks as it is surprising how much sugar is in these products that you are unaware of.

I had high blood sugar and neurologist told me to decrease sugar intake, mainly fruit, and prescribed cinnamon pills. It has helped my neuropathy.

Shihtz6,

I too, have found that if I eat something with sugar (like the small piece of cheesecake I had last night) I pay for it the next day with pins and needles.

I've also found that the fake sugars in diet products make me feel even worse. I gave up diet soda (I'm a diabetic) for 4 months and found my stiffness and the stabbing, electrical shocks were cut in about half.

Sadly, most foods are chock full of sugars. Many are also full of natural sugars (like peas) that I never thought of even checking! I always thought any veggie was a safe bet, but its not.

I'm not sure if the cinnamon will help but if it does, PLEASE let us know!!! I'm willing to try just about anything for relief at this point!

Good Luck!

wow! i have found the same observation. i have neuropathy for more than 12 years now.in the past , i checked food influence based on :

proteins : form animal origin. i suspected mostly chicken meat.

then i suspected fried food: found out that fried food containing weat will cause burning feets needles and pins.

;astly, i begun suspect sugar. i dont have high level of sugar (1.1g/liter), but every time i eat sweet food then i will suffer the next 2-3 days.

i have reduced sweet food , mainly cakes aqnd fruits, and my feets begun to live again. less pain.
