I have small fibre neuropathy in both my feet and they burn, tingle and feel numb 24/7. I have always got my feet in a bowl of cold water and rub Hemp Active Gel on them which calms them. I just cannot take medication because of the side effects but I have tried amitriptyline, gabapentin and Lyrica in the past and also tried acupuncture. Have you been to a Neurologist? I also live in the UK and feel quite abandoned now!

Yes I was diagnosed with SFN and started having pain symptoms years ago in legs. I went on Gaba and Ami and in fact not only were side effects horrible but I got worse. To be honest, I just pushed through it with lots of exercise and I found the KEY to flare ups was sleep. So I take ambien regularly. It is the only thing that helped.

I have had small fibre neuropathy in my feet for just over two years. Some days I have tingling in my lower legs and this worries me that it is spreading. If I walk my dogs for too long then I will really suffer so I am finding it very difficult to exercise. I used to walk miles with my dogs and go to the gym and now I just cannot do it. I have just come off amitriptyline so suffering withdrawals but I will not go back on it. I have an appointment with the physio next week to see if there are any gentle exercises I can do. It is a cruel disease but I am trying to keep positive and will carry on searching for anything that may help xx

Hello Karjade ! I'm from the USA ..have horrible neuropathy in my feet ankles and I'm afraid it's moving up to my legs. I was recently prescribed amitryptyline by a rheumatologist. (I actually haven't even started taking it . ) Could you tell me why you are coming off of it ? I'm already on so many meds that it's unreal. Not one of them seems to help me whatsoever ? I also have Crohn's disease ..inflammatory arthritis....and fibromyalgia. Thanks and may God bless you !

Hi. I came off amitriptyline as it just made me feel really anxious and affected my memory. Also I have glaucoma and I kept being told that I should not be on it as it raises eye pressure. Gabapentin made me feel exactly the same. My neuropathy has got worse lately and it is scary. Good luck to you as well xxx

Hello Londonsburning, I have small fibre neuropathy in my feet, legs and to a lesser extent arms and face. The pain clinic I attended mention the idea of a lignocaine infusion but I didn't like the sound of it. My pain is excruciating and I get by with pregabalin and codeine. I also find large chilled gel pads on my legs are helpful as well as a 'cradle' to keep weight of bedclothes off my legs. Also, I avoid any sunlight on my legs as well as tight trousers or rough fabric. Pain clinic says no other options. Hope you find something that helps.
