Feet are numb

Sunni123 profile image

I am most fortunate that, although my Neuropathy, was initially painful, the bottoms of my feet have since become numb. Proper use of insulin, has helped a lot, along with a fairly strict diet and my feet are somewhat less numb than they were previously. I need to exercise more but that's hard to do with arthritis.

I have been diagnosed with small fibre neuropathy and my feet burn, tingle and I get numbness. I do not have diabetes. I have had two nerve conduction tests and the neurologist said my peripheral nerves in my feet are normal and working perfectly. I have had a range of blood tests which were normal and a circulation test which was normal. I am on a low dose of Amitriptyline which do not really help. I have been discharged from the hospital and my doctor says there is nothing more he can do. I am pleased for you that you are not in pain now. I am finding life very difficult and scared it will spread but the neurologist does not think it will so I am clinging on to that! If I do too much walking it seems to make my feet worse so I feel that has been snatched away from me as well. It is a cruel disease and I wish mine would go away xxx

Yes it certainly is a cruel disease and I would give anything to be able to walk without a walker or have to use the wheelchair for big walks, but for all of us here we must stay positive have much positive support via family friends, talk groups like this one and access to pain Doctor to help with pain control like medical marijuana that I now taking for 2 years and yes sometimes I get an hour to 3 hours where I’m not feeling any pain. Believe me when I tell you the emotional part of deciding to take it and you ask yourself “are people gonna except this like my family, where some were not happy, but when they saw it helped me they were on board and accepted it as I have. Remember we walk in our shoes and nobody else has any right to judge us or ridicule us for something that none of us here ever wanted to end up on these difficult things and situations due to all of our different Neuropathy diagnoses. Yes we set our daily goals and write in our journals how are pain levels are all month? Good days & Bad days? How much of our goals exercising and walking? Getting dressed? That’s a real painful thing for me. Yes we usually see our G. P. Once a month and you go in and you’ve been through a horrible month and they say you look good you must be feeling better? lol yet they haven’t been in your body your shoes, so keeping a journal is good as it not only helps you keep track of this disease, but also gives the Docs much feedback( make sure they read your journals) so that you get the help and support you need, but also your in control of your life this way. Yes keep positive and strong and healthy and NEVER GIVE UP! & TRY TRY TRY! Moderate your activities according to what your able to handle. You do these things it will give you back some confidence and control in your life! Last week I was so sick I got so upset cried and I said “Lord please put me out of my misery!” Well we all know that when we are at a breaking point we say things we don’t really mean, as we’re all suffering from a horrible disease, I made my husband cry as he feels so helpless to watch me in such pain and so I told him I was so sorry I didn’t mean to ask god to put me out of my misery. I just couldn’t take the pain anymore as my spine is affected my arms my legs my hands my feet and swollen lumps in my head. I still have Edema, but am on lasex. Hugs and prayers for you. Take care.

Hi Sunni123 😊🌸🌿🦋

I love your pic. You are a very pretty lady. I’m sorry about your diabetic neuropathy. My brother has it but has never tried to follow the strict regimen of diet and exercise due to mental illness. He drinks 24 sugary Cokes daily and declares they don’t hurt a thing and it’s his only thirst quencher.

He has lots of complications but nothing we do because he can’t help himself.

I’m proud of you for doing what is right and healthy. I pray that you will continue to improve and have a great life dear.

Take care and bless you.

😊🌸🌿🦋🤗💗😘🙏

Awe your very sweet honeybug! Your brother is he special needs or is his mental status due to the disease? Why do I ask? Well in last few years I had a walnut sized Pituitary gland non cancerous tumor shrank by Docs and was left with chemical imbalance in the brain so I’m on Pristiq and I have concussion syndrome from several head injury’s, the worst one with a base skull fracture leaking fluid and I couldn’t blow my nose for a while they said, cause when I bent over the fluid Was just running out my nose it was scary but I ok sometimes I go to say one thing and something else comes out and I have memory problems and I try to read and color etc. to help with my motor skills and I stopped stuttering so brain exercises have helped somewhat dramatically still battle with blurred vision but Still gotta go strong and healthy as can be! Prayers and hugs to you and your brother! Take care dear.

Hi Franklin 1970 😊🌸🌿

So nice to meet you.

Thank you for asking about my brother. No to the best of my knowledge he is a victim of my mother’s mental illness combined with her chain smoking and drinking while pregnant. He got more of her genes where as I’m more like my dad. He is learning disabled with a lower IQ as a results of the combination of things.

He gets in trouble a lot due to poor judgement inability to project effects of judgment calls and very dyslexic color blind and being negatively imprinted by the turmoil between my parents. He also got a bigger dose of depression than I did and has struggled lifelong from that which complicates everything for him. He constantly has to be reassured and comforted which is hard to to do and common sense is lacking a lot of the time. He and I both are victims of pedophiles. I’m victorious where he is still a victim which complicates his depression...well everything for him. His anger issues have calmed down much but certain triggers really set him off like before. When that happens it’s getting harder to calm him down with age.

You and I share head injury status. I had a CHI age 7 when I fell down on the ice while skating seconds later I opened my eyes to see a sled 🛷 hit my forehead. I was knocked unconscious my dad rushed me to the ER and I was diagnosed with a near fatal closed head injury. It damaged my sight in my right eye and left me without depth perception. I also was assaulted by a teenage girl and knocked unconscious by a kick to my face age 18. I know I have CTE but that won’t be revealed until I leave my brain 🧠 for research/study for CHIs on long term effects of it from childhood. I have had my lifelong struggles from it and as my dear friend Barnclown has taught me multiple chronic incurable conditions/diseases are caused by head trauma which until she educated me I had no clue existed.

I’m extremely interested in your head trauma story. I also want to tell you how terribly bad I feel for your outcome and let you know my heartfelt empathy goes out to you sweetie.

I’m so sorry about your pituitary gland tumor and all the complications from it. Bless your heart and soul you have really had your struggles and I want you to know how proud I am of you and your accomplishments. Has your head trauma caused sleep 💤 issues for you because mine sure has????

Xoxoxo

Ty for replying honebug! It’s very nice to meet you. Yes I too was a victim of mental physical and sexual abuse. I have P. T. S. D. From all the horrible things I endured as did you and your brother. As for my head injuries a lot were slipping on ice and fell out of bed and passed out in shower hit my mouth on side of tub passed out hit my head when I fell out of tub. I feel for you and your brother and the emotional and physical and mental pain you both endured and your brother is angry as he should be! When I was having night terrors I couldn’t sleep I’d cry and sometimes I wake up punching the air or just start crying uncontrollably and when the put me on clonazepan it really has help big time with limiting the amount of night terrors and well I also have an abdominal hernia that has opened up my stomach and there’s only a layer of tissue protecting my internal organs so I must wear what’s called an abdominal binder that wraps around my stomach to hold everything in and together. My abdomen is so full of adhesions that they will not operate on me. I also have bowel blockages can only digest soft foods and I experience nausea daily. I’m on hormone therapy and I take lupin estradiol and ondancetron for nausea and I still have Edema but I still used my recumbent bike for 5 mins as my left knee and foot are broken. I slipped disc in lower right lumbar c spine and cause I can’t have no surgery I suffering from severe back spinal pain. My spine is curved a little docs said and I also have 2 torn shoulders a squished elbow cushion and a growth on my right kidney plus I have mother health issues and since docs done all they can do I talk to my pain doc and my R. N. Who retired she called me last week and good support and friends helps plus I went thru 6 years of therapy every week with a psychologist who she brought me back out of shock and back to wanting to live again after the horrible trauma I endured as it mangled my insides well that and the 20 cm non cancerous tumor I had years ago the docs gave me injections for year and half and I was so sick and then suffered trauma while I was having this tumor that attached to one ovary I was traumatized and injured severely but bounced back and I am married to a wonderful husband who loves me for me and that’s how it should be. Yes your brother you and I have a lot in common. Please feel free to talk to me anytime dear take care sweetie! Stay strong and healthy and positive amen!

Yes dear it’s hard as I have Ostio arthritis and recently my feet and ankles were like balloons they were so swollen and yours numb it’s such a difficult journey for us as my Neuropathy so bad they first thought I had M. S. , then Lupus, as I have episodes ( flare ups) I call them when I suffered from atrophy of all my muscles dear. Yes exercising and walking is good, but in moderation to what your body’s limits are. So if your in severe pain exercising maybe cut back a little do chair workouts and walk around your house and always have your rest periods, as we all suffer from severe fatigue in our body so you need to take those rests to rejuvenate ourselves and our minds bodies and souls as your on a difficult journey sweetie and hugs and prayers for you.

I have a list to remind me what's important.

When you are in not so good health words take on different meanings

Exercise - means - only as much as you can comfortably do without risking a relapse.

Relaxation/Rest - means scheduled rests, and learning to relax consciously

Diet - means - not too many empty carbohydrates and try to watch your weight. Hard to do when you're sedentary.

Stress - can mean anything from a phone call to a worked-related stress, Small becomes big. Try to avoid stress.

Pacing - is the vital art of using the small amount of energy you have wisely and well.

Memory Fog - which means lapses in concentration that can produce goofs,

Think - I know it's hard to do but thinking out a task can save miles of effort in the long run.

Definitely sweet honeybug we keep in touch and ty for listening and I hope I can be of any assistance to you and everyone in this awesome group! Have a great day and I’ll do the same. I have new medical issues that have arisen C spine pain all the way from neck to bottom and I cry so hard when it flares up. I also have Edema so bad my left leg is leaking fluid and it’s knee is broke and 3rd and 4 metatarsals are broken with the bones split laying side by side. I needed pins put in but my body isn’t strong enough to take surgery unless it’s life and death then god will decide! I now have to wear compression stockings 24hr’s a day periodically having to elevate my legs as my left leg calf is purple and so much swelling and fluid and pain and to top it off I went on beautiful holidays with my husband to Mt. Robson and just had to do a stool testing for a parasite? They not sure but I have been so sick for 4 weeks that’s what tipped the Doctors off so I’m praying that it’s something they can figure out and treat it. I was overwhelmed but I prayed to God to guide me and I feel better about everything and of course! Talking to loving caring people like you really helps me! God bless and have a wonderful day love & prayers & hugs your way dear.
