Hi, sorry to bother you, I hope this is the right place to ask, but I have long standing back pain, I recently had a mri scan which showed lumbar and cervical arthritis and a central herniation in my thoracic spine, which is touching the cord but not squishing it, I get this hideous pain that comes and goes and it’s like round my back to front into my chest between my boobs and it’s like I am having a flipping heart attack. I just wondered if other people get this and if there is anything that helps? Xx

Thoracic disc herniation
Hi I have cysts on the Thoracic area of my spine as well as disc problems. Sometimes I feel like the back of my chest wants to push through the front of my chest and the pain can be so bad. At the start I thought it was my heart but now know it is spine related. I hope you get some relief.
Oh my goodness!! Hello, please forgive me for the first part. I have a prolapsed disc in my thoracic spine, but everyone I’ve ever spoken to has it in their lumbar region. I had exactly the same thing as you, now thankfully the pain for that is gone. (Mostly). My problem is the very same as your one. My disc is pressing on my spine but not enough to warrant surgery. The pain I had came under my right ribs and after going to the hospital with it, I was told it is deferred pain, it’s coming down the spine to under my ribs. Now please please, don’t take this as being yours, please get it checked out just to confirm what it is. Part of my problem is it effects the right side of my body, weakness and so, which I’m told it the nerve in my back being touched. As I’ve said, thankfully my pain diminished, how I don’t know, but please just get it checked out and I hope they have told you the warning signs to look out to with this. Good luck with this. Feel free to contact me anytime. Take care and stay as well as you can.
