I am at 37 year old male UK, my symptoms started in 2019 with really bad right sided head pain which lasted for a good few weeks went back and forward to GPs had bloods taking and then got sent to hospital for a CT with contrast of the head. The results came back all normal but my symptoms had manifested into having really bad night sweats, nausea, feeling very light headed/faint like and mild pains in the chest, so then i got referred to a infectious diseases clinic as this all started after i came back from a week in Scotland and i work with raw sewage.

I had a mass of test done in this clinic 10 different blood test, 3 stool sample, 24 hour urine sample, ECG and a CT scan of head and torso with contrast and from all these test everything came back normal.

So back and forward to GPs i went had lots of blood test carried out for the like of Lymes, Weils and H pylori. I had chest X-ray, 2 more ECGs and i paid for a private MRI scan of my head all these test came normal as well.

But my symptoms had gained.

Brain feels fatigue when talking and learning stuff

dizzy/foggy heads and if i turn quickly i seem to get dizzy very easy

feeling like am not in control of my legs but i can move them fine

Migraine type head pains

burning/ itchy feeling in back of head ( lasts for a week or so )

waking up dizzy for short time ( only happened a handful of times)

left blood shot eye ( comes for a couple of days and goes)

nausea mainly in morning

chest pain/ burning in middle of chest( comes for few weeks and goes again)

Arm and leg muscle twitch( mainly when resting)

stiff and achy index and thumb on both hands( comes and goes)

crampy feeling in leg muscle ( only had this a few times)

burning feeling on outside of left calve ( only had this for a few days April 2020)

a feeling like i have a hair in between my big and second toe of my right foot ( lasted about a week)

pains in bottoms of my heels

tingling in my left toes when walking or i tap my toes( lasts about a week)

hands feel like they are wet ( only had this once lasted a few hours)

tingling in hands when clapping or using power tools

random spikes in heart rate only lasts a couple of seconds

feeling pulse in whole body

feeling shaky or nervous

stomach pains

never feel fully rested

muscle fatigue

tinnitus only lasts a couple of seconds

tongue feels arched ( lasted a few days)

So i was referred to a syncope clinic and had a tilt table test, 24 hr heart and blood pressure test and a echo of the heart these all came back normal.

I had a 20 mins phone call appointment with a rheumatology all he seemed to be looking for was arthritis as i have had psoriasis since 2013. so had X ray and echo of hands and feet and bloods done which have all came back normal.

So now i have been referred to neurology which i seen on monday but felt very rushed and all she seemed to focus on was my migraines. I have had some bloods taking and she is going to send me for more scans of the head and neck to rule things out but she does not think anything is going on ?

I have had 2 eye tests, private york food intolerance ( only mild to cows milk so now drink oat milk), private CBT and private Physio ( dry needling and massage).

I have been only sertraline 50mg for months made no difference

lansoprazole 30mg for 4 weeks made no difference

The only thing that has been suggested all the way though this is stress and anxiety ??? but why and how can it cause all this when i was fit and health before this all happened.

If you got this far thanks for reading any body had any of these symptoms ?

thanks

Crikey! You poor soul. Regarding neurologists, they do seem (in my experience at least) fixated on migraine as a catch-all diagnosis, so don't take that one being thrown in your direction too personally. I think migraine must be heavily weighted in their training or something. As for the anxiety and stress diagnoses from assorted medics, well, most of us on these fora have had that diagnosis thrown at us at some point. It seems to translate as follows: "I haven't got a clue, so it must be down to you". Then they offer you pills. Job done.

I'm not a medic, but I have gathered a reasonable amount of health-related information during my life both from personal experience and the experience of others close to me. I also recognize some of your symptoms, so here are my thoughts:

Having said the above about migraine, it can cause a range of upsetting symptoms body-wide. This I know from personal experience. The brain is a strange and mysterious organ. Migraine indicates it's very upset about something that can be either difficult or impossible to source. I've heard that migraine can be triggered by a virus or bacterial infection that's long since departed, having left its rather permanent after effect on cranial blood vessels. Migraine can also be chronic, or complex or both. Some online investigation about the many migraine symptoms might be informative.

Another condition that causes strange symptoms is a neck whiplash injury. This can cause a range of neurological and digestive disorders. Having said that, your GP/neurologist/physio should all have picked up on neck whiplash if it's happened to you. Sometimes, they don't, so it might be worth a mention.

Moving on, there is a rare condition called spontaneous idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH). There's also intracranial hypotension if there is a trauma-related or spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leak, which often presents with an unusually runny-watery nose. Look up the symptoms online. Do you recognize them?

A special scan called a CT cisternogram can locate a CSF leak if it's present. With hypertension, a lumbar puncture can determine spinal fluid pressure, to see if it's high. These are invasive procedures. Contrasted CT/MRI venogram scans of the head should show anomalies with the internal jugular vein and cerebral venous sinus drainage which can trigger high pressure, but the scans are best examined by an expert interventional neuro-radiologist to be certain of an accurate diagnosis.

Be aware that CSF pressure issues (high or low) do not always present with a chronic headache and visual loss. Keep this in mind if talking to a specialist.

If you think intracranial pressure problems need to be ruled out, I suggest you discuss this with your GP or neurologist and ask for a referral to a neurosurgeon specifically to check out the possibility of a CSF pressure problem, high or low. Don't be surprised if you're first referred to an optician for a check of your optic nerves. They'll be looking for signs of excess pressure behind the eyes.

Finally, burning chest and stomach pain bring to mind gall bladder problems. However, scans should have shown if the gall bladder is full of stones, unless it's just stopped functioning without having any stones. It might be worth asking for confirmation that all is well with your gall bladder if you don't know already. It's also possible that blood tests would have flagged if something was amiss with digestion.

I hope the above at least gives you some food for thought. There may well be other conditions out there that are yet to be investigated, so don't give up hope! Keep looking until you get a sensible diagnosis - and there might be more than one.

Good luck!

As was said by our friend, neurologists are going to see migraines. Migraines come in every color of the rainbow.... every shape & color as well as every possible symptom you can imagine. Did you know you can have a migraine in your stomach?

I do believe that migraine disease is a spectrum & it affects everybody a little differently. It totally ignores some people and then punches others of us in the face with it sledgehammer.

Good luck.
