Ok, so where do I start?

I'm here because of my daughter really. She was born last year at 23 weeks gestation. Generally she is doing really well considering the tough start she had. She spent a total of 4 months in intensive care.

Due to her prematurity, she was/is high risk of developmental issues and possible disabilities later in life. In addition to this she had bleeds on the brain at an early age (grades 3 and 4), which fortunately did stop and drain without clotting. However the MRI scan before Christmas did show some whitening which does suggest damage. Unfortunately, due to complexity of the brain they're unable to give us any idea of how this will affect her moving forward. It could be anything from learning difficulties upwards. Of course, we will love and support her no matter what so in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter what conditions or disabilities she has, it's the not knowing for us that is causing us more distress.

Currently, she is behind on her motor development (such as crawling etc) but these are based on averages so it's a case of wait and see. Her cognitive assessment was good however again a little behind due to the prematurity.

She has been referred for a squint in her eyes and they are not sure if this is related or not to issues with the brain, however she does trace objects really well. She also has other conditions unrelated to the brain such as lung disease and other things.

I'm here just to get a better understanding on what maybe in store for us, however I appreciate that there is a wide range of things that may or may not present itself.

Thanks for reading and hope to speak to some of you soon :)
