Nightmares during pregnancy

Hello! I’m in week 16 and I’m having nightmares most nights. They’re very vivid and have little grounding in reality (often apocalyptical scenarios) and I have 2-3 of them nightly. I know it isn’t uncommon to have nightmares during pregnancy and that’s a relief, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on improving a night’s sleep? I hear they get more frequent and pregnancy-focussed as you’ve progress so I’m a little worried about the remainder of the pregnancy... Many thanks in advance.

i have the same problem every time im pregnant, only advise i can offer is try to avoid eating or drinking anything other water or juice before going to bed. and try to find a calming routine for bedtime whether its bath and a book or calming music to fall asleep to

Mine haven’t become pregnancy focused (week 39 now!!) but are more frequent due to sleeping lighter.

Make sure you are comfy in bed eg pillows supporting legs/bump. Practice good sleep hygiene as they call it eg phone off, routine before bed and so on.

Speak to work to see if they provide any flexibility in start times - I had some days I was wide awake at 2am so I would work and then finish early.

Listen to your body and take naps when needed.

I didn’t have nightmares as such during pregnancy but I did keep hallucinating and waking up screaming. I too was relieved when I Googled that it was normal! I noticed it was due to stress so my advice would be to do what you can to relax whether it be yoga, bath, a book, candles etc.

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x

Thanks all, really appreciate the replies! I didn't have much luck with any particular method but they got better on their own after two weeks, so that was good xx
