Steak panic

Hi, I have just found out I'm 4 nearly 5 weeks pregnant and I have eaten a medium/well done steak. The restaurant brought it out and after I had eaten a few slices around the edge I sent it back to be cooked further. I'm now panicking that I have harmed my unborn baby as lots of conflicting information about how you can eat steak.

Aw huni. Don't panic. I ate some raw chicken the other day-my own cooking! As long as you feel ok, there should be no probs x

Don't panic! I'm 6weeks+6days and had a lot of things i shouldn't have in the first few weeks of pregnancy because I didn't know I was pregnant. This included all you can eat sushi, runny poached eggs, a load of coffee and some wine - all the things you shouldn't have whilst pregnant. And I had all of that on the day before I found out! I was worried too but I agree with ndh1980 as everything I've read says as long as you don't feel unwell you and your baby should be fine! X

Don't worry, we all have done something like that!

I did not know I am pregnant therefore I helped my friend to move and did some bleaching. Some women don't know that they should not eat runny eggs, or Brie and babies turn out just fine!

Friend did not know she's pregnant and flew to visit her friend abroad and 2 nights got totally legless - her boy is gorgeous and intelligent.

I have not been at hairdressers for 6 months due to pregnancy. However, the owner of the place is doing nails and did it till last day of her pregnancy (imagine all hair colour smell mixed with nail polish and acetone) and she has a beautiful and healthy baby girl.

Be positive, everything will be good!x

Don't worry, everything will be fine, your baby probably will be fine. Toxoplasmosis in pregnancy is very rare.

I was having bath panic at 5 weeks as I had too hot bath, im 5 months pregnant now. :)

I ate a medium steak last night and 29 weeks pregnant. I would not worry you will be fine. I also used to eat peanuts when they told you not to and non of my kids have peanut allergies. Now they tell you to eat peanuts to avoid peanut allergies with your kids. The only thing you have to be very careful with is pattes, raw fish and soft unpasteurised cheeses, under cooked eggs but even now they just say it's fine as long as they have the lion mark on x

Hope your steak tasted delicious Kate!

I am put off the meat during this pregnancy 😷

In today's society the pregnant woman are scared all the time (then research says this then the opposite)...

My mum has 5 kids. She was never told what she can/can't eat so she ate everything she wanted. We all turned out pretty good, none has allergies nor serious illnesses.

As we lived in a country side and we had no indoors bathroom, so everyone went in sauna every week - also pregnant women (my grandmother died last year at age 95 and she made a fire by herself and fetched some water and went in sauna 2 days before she passed away)

I think: if it's meant to be that a child has allergy- it will develop it no matter what you do. (Lady I know was craving peanuts with 2 oldest children and both got peanut allergy. So with the third one she never touched a peanut but the third child got it anyway).

Thanks it was nice, I am having the weirdest cravings, green olives, chips and gravy, bacon. I just use the if it's gonna make me feel sick I probably shouldn't eat it method haha. I don't know all that much about peanut allergies just how dangerous they can be if someone gets them but luckily food allergies don't run in my family. I am not really craving them just do sometimes eat those little bags of nuts with them in. Food fussiness is a different matter in our house haha. I have to eat low carbs now though so the chips and gravy are out thanks to gestational diabetes.

95 is a good age and all that fresh air sounds like a great childhood. I think we worry too much about everything now because one min we are told this is dangerous, that is. Then the next it isn't. You can't make sense of it all lol x

Poor thing (about the gestational diabetes... ) however, I am jealous of your cravings!

Usually I am a healthy eater but firstly was nauseous till week 16 and still can't look at food with passion / desire 😢 I do the same thing - if it won't make me sick (in my case nauseous) then I am eating it.

I was a nanny of those 3 kids. Epipen (think it's insulin in it) was always in a reach of arm as the allergy is lethal (swells the tongue, can't breathe) a sudden and potentially deadly condition that requires immediate attention and treatment.

I want my appetite back... Hopefully it will return after baby will arrive, as hoping to breastfeed, and therefore will need to intake plenty of nutrients to have good quality milk.

Oh I so sympathise I was absolutely terrible sickness wise with my 2 boys. The youngest was the worst I was so ill with him. I lost weight during the pregnancy. It seems to drag forever when you are like that. This one is a girl and weirdly I have had hardly any sickness at all. Would rather have the gestational diabetes than the sickness honest its awful. Couldn't keep water down or anything.

You will get your appetite back believe me. I did after mine. Takes a few days but it comes back. Just make sure you don't get dehydrated because that's what put me in hospital. Get some iced lollies in lol

The peanut allergy sounds so terrifying! You would constantly be on high alert and worried about that if it were your child. X
