Hi everyone, I'm 8 weeks pregnant and been suffering with bad nausea and sickness. I just wondered if anyone has been suffering too and if so what has been helping if anything?

Hiya!

Sorry to hear you're suffering 😔 I'm 33 weeks now and had sickness quite badly up until about 24/25 weeks, and it's just starting to come back! I was sick 9+ times a day at the beginning and couldn't keep a meal or anything down but managed to find a couple of things that eased it slightly that might be worth you trying!

Ginger biscuits are supposed to really help! (I hate ginger so couldn't try them but EVERYONE recommended them!)

A glass of Coke really helped to settle my stomach, and now my sickness has started to come back I have a glass of Coke when I start to feel a bit queasy and most days it's managed to be the difference between feeling sick and spending half an hour in the bathroom actually being sick!

I went to the doctors and got some anti sickness tablets that are safe to take during pregnancy - they didn't do much for me but it could definitely be worth a try!!

Eating smaller amounts helped - I found I was constantly hungry but I was less likely to be sick if I didn't wolf down a whole big meal!

It doesn't sound very nice but if you can find out which foods/meals aren't horrendous to bring back up, it makes a big difference! I tried to remember which foods made actually being sick worse and had to make a conscious effort to eat really small pieces at a time so that when I was sick, it wasn't as bad because I started to bring up blood.

I really hope you find something that helps! If you ever want to rant or chat about it though or if you're having a bad day and want to talk, I'm always here and I understand how tough and draining it is!

xxxx

Morning sickness is horrible, GP can prescribe a variety of anti-emetics to help, one dissolves under the tongue called Buccastem, or their Stematil.  If you are unhappy with prescription there are homeopathic alternatives, id have to check the name of mine but initially just enquiried at a health shop.  Also may sound strange but found Lucozade very helpful.  Wish you all the best and really hope you feel better soon.  Good luck. X

Hi,

I had nausea in the first trimester. Ginger made me throw up and I didn't want to take any medications so I used sea-bands which are bands you put on your arms and it has a small ball connected to the band that press on a shiatsu pressure point. I was very skeptic at first but I found it very helpful and it has very good reviews online.

Hi Ellco, I am in a similar position to you: 9 weeks pregnant and feeling sick all day every day. It's miserable isn't it!  As many of the replies from these lovely Mums and Mums-to-be state, small meals seem to make a difference. Mine is also helped by a mug of hot water with lemon slices and bags of ready salted crisps!  Good luck with it all.  I've been told it will eventually stop (cannot wait!) but please don't think you're on your own on this one - sending you a virtual hug x

Ready salted crisps were so good with sickness for me!! If it makes you feel any better, I haven't even had my baby yet and the sickness already feels so long ago! X

Hope it eases for you soon. I suffered with terrible nausea until week 10.

My midwife said that ginger will work best if it's pure rather than in biscuits. She suggested lemon - such a lemon sherbet or a drip of lemon juice on the tongue if you are on the go.

Anythings worth a try!
