Baby monitors

Hi, hope everyone has enjoyed a lovely christmas.

Now looking at baby monitors in the sale but wondered if anyone has one they think is worth investing in. I just want a basic monitor, no cameras or sensor pads.

Any advice?

Thanks

We've been looking at baby monitors too. My husband has been researching them using Which? and reviews left by customers and came to the conclusion they were all rubbish! Not very helpful, sorry.

We were given a baby monitor for number 1, it was a very basic Tomy model (which they probably don't make any more). It was useful when we were away from home, but we never used it at home as our downstairs was open plan to our upstairs hallway. However, the cable has started to break which was why we were looking for a new one, it was making a crackling feedback noise, and we've moved house so I am worried we won't hear our new baby (due in March) when it's upstairs and we're downstairs. My husband doesn't seem concerned, but I'll be following replies to your post to get some ideas!

Glad it isn't just me who is baffled! Every time if think that one is ok I then read something else about it that isn't so good! At the moment leaning towards a BT 200 I think.

I had a tomy one years ago it was great could hear my children breathing it was that sensitive. .. didn't have one with my 2 boys but with this little man I have been very anxious for some reason so I got an angel care sensor pad one and it's great I'm really pleased with it and I got it with my clubcard vouchers :)

I'd say avoid anything analogue, poor sound quality and lots of static. Most are digital now anyway. We had a BT 300 for our first child, very good on many levels, sound quality, lullabies, range, temp sensor, night light, 2 way sound and nearly everything could be done via the remote. Its only real flaws were battery life, which reduced a lot over time and the connection with the charging cradle was hit and miss from day 1. We managed to eek 3 years out of it though so can't complain. Good luck.

We didn't use our monitor until baby moved into his own cot at 8 weeks old. We have the angel monitor with pressure pad. It's great

It plugs in the electricity socket and works very well. I read the reviews on amazon and most were good x

My mum n dads just bought us the summer infant baby touch monitor, it's a lil costly at £136 but as I'm a first time mum it really does put my mind at ease to see my lil man, last night was the first full night he's spent in his cot and the reassurance to see him as well as hear him is very comforting, ok i was glued to it and it took me a while to sleep but I could see he had kicked his cover of so popped in to put it back on him as I said it was costly but a vg investment x

We bought a monitor but as our son is still in our room (16 weeks) we haven't used it..I can hear him and I am such a light sleeper. He will b going in his own room in his cot in the new yr as he doesn't fit in his basket much longer so I will probably use it then. The thing with the sensor pad ones is they r ok until ur baby can move at night..my son rolls onto his side so the thing wud b goin off constantly as hes not on the mat. X
