Hayfever remedies in pregnancy!!?

Hi all, I'm 9 +3 weeks pregnant and am suffering so bad with hayfever, yet on all the tablets and nasal sprays it says you cannot use whilst pregnant! Does anybody known of any other suggestions?

Speak to your doctor. There are some nasal sprays that are safe to use in pregnancy. There are also some Water based nasal sprays that the pharmacist should be able to help you with although didn't do the trick for me. I've been taking a tea spoon of manuka honey a day and have been remarkably free of symptoms.

Oh yes I've heard about taking honey but locally sourced because it comes from all the local flowers etc x

The issue with antihistamines is that they don't know what effect it has on baby, so they recommend you don't take it. If you see your doctor, theres apparently 1 antihistamine that they know is safe that he can prescribe you. But only 1, as far as I know (don't know name, sorry).

As far as natural remedies go, the honey one is supposed to work: source local made honey. And, 'hello', much more YUM than tablets! ;)

Hi,

I went to see my GP about the same thing and he prescribed cetirizine so there are things out there that we can take.

Go see your GP an see how you get on x

I was told by the doctor that I can use piriton syrup (I use the age 1+)

It works well for me. I am 10 weeks now and hay fever is a real issue of mine.

Hi, I usually have the same problem but my symptoms have been very mild since I found out in pregnant. I went to my gp as a precaution and he reluctantly gave me a low dose of Piriton which I can take upto 4 times a day only if I'm desperate. Depending on your symptoms they prefer to give you a nasal spray. How you get something soon x
