Heart rate- girl or boy?

Has anyone heard this or is it just me? I read somewhere that the baby's heart rate can give an indication of its sex. It's probably an old wives tale ( like if you have heartburn regularly you'll have a hairy baby!!)but just wondered if anyone had had this conversation with their midwife or doctor? Just for fun really x

Hiya.i heard about it and in my case its true lol.my baby's hb was over 160 and she is a girl.also i had problems from day one,craved chocolate,had spots on my face (never any issues with my son),even checked with my ring and it came its a girl and had my future read by gypsy woman lol.my friend had heartburn all the time and her son was birn with loads of hair.he's only 3weeks old and will need a hair cut soon lol.i never believed any of these things till it actually happened to me..

Yeah I now think I'm having a boy as my bubbas heartbeat was 140-150bpm! My friends cousin is a midwife and said if its 160and over its a girl under its a boy.......but saying that when I was in labour with my first the midwife reckoned she was a boy by the. Bpm and she is def a she!

I've heard about heart rate but not tried that BUT there is another one, when you hear the baby's heart beat at 16weeks if it sounds like a galloping horse it's a girl if it sounds like a train chugging its a boy, I've had 1 girl + 2 boys and it was right on all 3!! Xx

Yeah I have heard that about the heart rate, mine was 140 at my last appointment and I asked the midwife if it was true about if you can tell the gender and she said they normally only really say you can tell from the heartbeat in the third trimester.

In was looking for a doppler on amazon and these gender prediction kits came up, I would well not trust one of those to see what sexs I was having but would be really interested to see if they are right.

My babys HR is always around 140bpm and he is a boy! this is supposed to be fairly accurate! x

Ah no your joking, bet I am having another boy then. Not that I am being ungrateful. Why do girls hearts beat faster?

Neska,your comment about your friends 3 week old baby needing a haircut really made me laugh. I imagined a tiny little baby with hair like Donald trump! It's been great reading all your comments. My baby's BPM has ranged from 160 to 136 at its lowest. It's gradually dropped as my pregnancy has progressed, so I guess if there is any truth in it I'm having another boy too! Only have 4 weeks to wait to find out now. I really don't mind if I have a boy or a girl, I can think of positives for both. Hughesie I like the bit about train or horse, I will have an extra careful listen next time. I work in a hospital and have had lots of Malaysian cleaners stop me in corridors saying I'm having a girl. Can't wait to find out! Thank you for all your comments, it's exciting speculating whether there's any truth in it or not!

Never have I actually looked out for this. I shall on Sunday at the growth scan but I won't know until delivery the outcome xx
