Hiya.i dont have this problem but my friend had asthma all her life.when she got pregnant she had to be monitored more.and when she had attacks ,she had to go to the hospital.i guess it gets worse because of extra weight you have to carry.just give your midwife a call and she should reffer you to see a specialist.hope they'll look after you and your symptoms will get better.not fair women gave to suffer so much x

Thanks didn't think to tell the midwife as I saw it as a seperate issue. . Will Def mention it x

I have asthma and mine got worse in pregnancy. Quite early on too. At about fifteen weeks it was so bd I thought over Christmas I was going to have to go to hospital. I went to doctors though and she gave me a pump. You know one of those small cylinders the give to children. I was embarrassed at the start but it defo helps. It helps get the medication in. And now at 32 weeks as baby is closer o ribs and breathing harder the pump is excellent.

Yes I've got asthma and it's got a lot worse esp at night going to see gp next week

Hi Babymother

My asthma has got worse during pregnancy. It isn't bad all the time, mainly when I'm walking especially uphill/upstairs, but I got a cough/cold about 6 weeks ago and my asthma flared up big time meaning it took me over a week to shift the cold & a lot of sleepless nights for not being able to breathe.

Since then my doctor told me to take my purple preventer inhaler (stronger than the brown) twice a day & am the blue inhaler 4 times a day (though I don't always remember!) to keep my airways open. I am also meant to measure my peak flow daily at home to ensure it's doesn't fall below a certain level.

Maybe speak to your doctor about doing something similar so that you can manage it effectively so that it doesn't become too problematic.

xx

Thanks...I've started feeling wheezy and coughing a lot at night again...but where my asthma has been so great I've hardly used a blue inhaler this year and haven't had to use my brown for as long as I can remember...my son has asthma and I use his thing when I take my pump..but will def go to my g.p, the warmer it gets and the bigger I get does concern me x
