My name is Jon “Scooterjon” Wegner. In July of 1991, I was diagnosed with my MS.  I was 33 years old.  I’m nobody special. I’ve never done anything spectacular in my life.  I got my nickname because I now ride an electric scooter 100% of the time due to MS. My neurologist told me I have an MS lesion on my lower spinal cord. That lesion is affecting everything below my waist including standing, walking, balance, bladder and bowel. On top of that I have many other MS invisible symptoms.

Below is a list of my primary and secondary symptoms. My secondary symptoms are the direct result of my MS

Heat Intolerance/Fatigue

Bladder/Bowel

Balance/Foot Drop

Memory/Cognitive

Sleep/Pain

Numbness/Lhermitte's

Sex/Caregiving

Clonus/Spasticity

Osteoporosis/Pressure Points

Taste/Swallowing

Speech/Anxiety

Depression/Emotional

Vision/Optic Neuritis

Tooth Loss/Blood Clots

Dexterity/Handwriting

Exercise/Confidence

Disinhibition/Voice

Sounds/Migraines

None of us are anybody special except where it counts, in heart and soul. There we ahave the capacity to be unique and truly very special. Our outside exterior package matters very little in the life given to us. Our value lies in how we interact and respond to those around us.

These are very typical and such difficult things to deal with! I hope you find great support here at this forum. We are really just one big family who laugh with and at each other, love each other, and most importantly, we support each other and understand each other.

Welcome to the group. Thanks for sharing. I’m believing that I will run again in Heaven, too. I also don’t walk, have spasticity in my legs and use a wheelchair now for about the past 18 months. Hang in there! There is still hope and much joy in this life when we fight for it.
