I have brand new anchors that I would like to pass on.

I bought something similar to that some years ago, don't remember the name. Now I have custom fit orthotic. I'd like to pass mine on too as hardly ever worn. Assuming I could find them that is😂

I will be going to the orthotics people for a more supportive one as my walk on flex isn't quite enough anymore. Not sure what I will be getting yet.

They will probably suggest moving on to a custom made afo. They are more bulky but supposedly better? certainly are much more expensive! Good luck! I rarely use mine as go barefoot most of the time and use a walker now.

I have met my deductible for the year so won't have to pay 😁😁

What is it like to walk with an AFO? My right foot doesn’t always come up correctly as I walk (toe skims the ground). I assume this device might be able to help?

That is exactly what an afo is for, to keep those toes from dragging and tripping you up. Sounds like you might want to look into it, ask neuro for script/order.

Foot drop, toes dragging caused me to fall and break my wrist. I didn't even realize I had foot drop at the time, just knew legs got tired.

I am on my third AFO. All have had their pros and cons. They certainly do help with the foot drop but I find that they all tend to limit flexion of the foot so walking is anything but normal. I was using the SaeboStep which was worn around the ankle and a cord was then attached to the shoe. I liked it because you could adjust the pull . However, I broke the cords often and it became an expense.

Oh I agree, they do limit flexion of the ankle which isn't good if wearing for extended periods. I had a hard time getting used to the custom made as is so bulky. I got the one without the hinge as it seemed finding a shoe it would fit into would be even more difficult. They were a great help at one time but as I have become less mobile aren't used often. I depend on the rollator to catch me if foot drags...I liked the look of the one that Kenu has that is worn on the outside of the shoe also.

Yes dorsiflexion is out the window with the AFO. At least that’s the case with mine.

Yes, I used an AFO to prevent Foot-drop.

Hi, I wear a custom made AFO with an ankle appliance for lack of a better word. This is to help with foot drop, ankle stabilization and tripping. I need shoes in two different sizes and widths because of it. Anyone who wears one in the summer can tell you it feels like you’re wearing a fur coat in August! I use an UpWalker and now lately more often use a power chair. Fashion has been out the window for many years wearing this AFO. Though I’d rather wear it than kiss the pavement without it!

a custom fit one is probably the best way to go.

I found I didn’t clear the floor well after a while. I have been fitted for several different models of orthotics, even with modifications they were never comfortable in my shoe. My orthotist suggested the turbo med it has been 3+ years and it works well. It goes on the outside of your sneaker/shoe so it can make driving challenging.

I have being wearing a TurboMed AFO for about six years now. I have three of them now and 8 different shoes I wear. Nice having it on the outside and wear any shoes the right size. It is not hot like the plastic ones that go inside your shoe. Have adapted well to driving and don’t have to use a cane 🦯 👍🏼😉
