Speech problems

Hi all.

Does anyone else suffer from slurred speech normally but worse after exercise. I'd like to join a gym with my partner but worried because after I exercise I sound even more drunk than usual and don't want to embarrass myself.

I hate that my speech is so bad anyway. I've not spoken to a doctor since March about my MS and don't have any future appointments booked in with anyone so thought I might get more help and advice on here πŸ™‚

Ketonaid or caffeine might help, but maybe not good if you have other health issues.

Does it seem worse when you heat up from exercise? Boy, I think exercise is so important, so if you can keep that going, it would be great. Do you think it might be worth a try to find some cooling gear, such as a cooling vest, neck coolers, and cold drinks? Just a thought.

I find I struggle walking and have speech issues after exercising. However my son has had me exercising every morning for two months. The first few weeks were awful, although admittedly hysterical. Now my body seems to have adjusted. At first I could barely walk after ten minutes (we alternate the treadmill and elliptical each day). Now I am fine after 20 min each day. So you may improve with time. Just laugh when your body acts up. Then no one will stress over what they see.

I too struggle with this. Everything becomes worse when my core temp increases. The experts claim that a few tenths in core temps can affect those with MS. I can no longer walk w/o aids so I take my wheel chair to the Gym and go from station to station with the chair. Not stylish but effective. Best exercise for me is in a swimming pool if the water temp is 85 degrees Farenheight or less. Great exercise no symptoms.
