I was switched to a new muscle relaxer 10 days ago. It's called Methocarbam (generic Robaxin-750). I was having minimal success with Flexiril, so I was switched. I don't believe the new relaxer is working at all!
This evening I was driving with my parents home from the grocery store when a spasm hit my spine without warning & shot straight down my right leg, locking all the muscles in places. I was unable to remove my foot from the gas petal & nearly rolled my jeep trying to stop & pull off the road as several other spasms racked my body. I was terrified & nearly panicked.
Luckily I was able to stop & my parents (both disabled) were able to remove me from the driver seat with the lower half of my body stiff as a board & we made it home safe.
Has anyone else had reactions like this to Methocarbam?

How scary! I'm so relieved you are all right, as well as your passengers. It sure sounds like a call to your doctor is in order, as well as plenty of time to see how you might react to any muscle relaxer before driving. I haven't personally heard of this problem; usually sleepiness and slow reactions are what come to mind with most muscle relaxers.
Stay safe. I hope your doctor has an explanation for you.
Wow! So sorry this happened to you. I have no experience with this med but it sounds like this may not be the med for you. I take baclofen and Tegretol for my spasms. Keep us updated on what your dr says. So glad everyone is okay.
