3*3=9 2×2×2=8

9-8=1. 1x1x1x1.....x1x1=1

Too easy for an ex-engineer?. Should have posted it after 9am? Then it might be unsolvable? That's when everything gets divided by zero. To the -9th power. If there even is such a thing.

Don’t understand why 1 to the 66th power is still 2, but then my brain has blocked out that section. 🤣

I think the answer is 1

3 squared =9

2 to the power 3 =8

9-8=1

1 x 66 = 66 ?

Not 1 x 66, but 1 to the 66th power. 1⁶⁶.

Thank you, missed that so it’s 1?

How do you guys understand that?? Beyond me!

Gues I need to go back to algebra. If 3 square = 9, then why doesn’t 1 squared to 66 -= 66. My brain not capable of understanding.

It's not 1 squared, it's 1 to the power of 66. The number which is "lifted up" is called a power or an exponent. When you use the number which is "lifted up" you are doing multiplication "to the power of x" where x is the number of times you multiply a number by itself. So 3 to the power of 2 (I can't type the little number here either) is three multiplied by itself two times i.e. 3x3 (=9), and three to the power of 4 would be 3x3x3x3 =81. Then 3 to the power of 6 would be three multiplied by itself six times i.e. 3x3x3x3x3x3 (=729).

The first power is always 1, but this is never written down, and a number multiplied by 1 will always be the number. To lay it out differently:

First multiplication: 3 x 1 = 3

Second multiplication (or 3 to the power of 2) is 3x3 - 9

Third one: 9 x 3 = 27

Fourth one:- 27 x 3 = 81

Fifth one: 81 x 3 = 243

Sixth one: 243 x 3 - 729

And then you can see that 1 multiplied by 1 equals one, and no matter how many times you multiply 1 by itself you will still get 1 as the answer. That's why 1 to the power of 66 still equals 1 i.e. 1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1........... and on and on until you've done it 66 times still equals 1.

We won't go into what happens with negative powers (i.e. stuff like say 7 to the power of minus 5) 'cos it's about 50 years since I did any maths and can't remember that far back any more :)

So, sort of as as jimeka wrote, it's worked out as:

3 squared is 3x3 which =9

2 to the power 3 is two "cubed" or 2 x 2 x 2 =8

9-8=1

And then you get to 1 times itself 66 time which equals 1.

Thank you. Got the 9 and 8. Forgot 1 x 1 = 1 infinity. MS brain👹

I came up with 1 66power I dont know how to do the little 66

(3×3-2×2×2)66

(9-8)66

(1)66

1 66th power

agapepilgrim profile image

As explained 1 to whatever power is still 1 so answer is 1🤣

Sorry for answering so late

1 to the power of a gazillion, is 1x1x1x1x1x1x1x1.....a gazillion times.

2 to the power of 2 is 2x2 , 2 to the power of 3 is 2x2x2, 2 to the power of 4 is 2x2x2x2, and so forth.

Now for the hard ones: It's already 9:30AM, so these I can no longer answer today. Anyone else?

What is 1 to the power of 1?

What is 1 to the power of 0?

I cheated and googled them.

Any number to the power of 1 is the number any number. 1 million to the power of 1 is 1 million 1234567890 to the power of 1 is 1234567890

Similarly, any number to the power of 0 is 1.

1234567890 to the power of 0 is 1.

Did I remember that? at 9:30 AM? Are you crazy? Or am I? No, just cognitively stupid by 10! AM!??? A little help from Google to jog my memory, or what's left of it.

I came up with 1. That took me back to high school math! I don't have to use those kinds of calculations. Simple algebra yes but not numbers multiplied out to the different powers.

The answer is 1 , agapepilgrim

3 squared = 9

2 cubed = 8

You need to solve within the parenthesis first before anything else so

(9 - 8) = 1

1 times 1 times 1 ... 63 more times = 1

so the answer is 1 :-D
