We don’t get much snow here in the U.K., but one year we had enough to make an igloo. Unfortunately that week that it snowed we had a holiday planned at my sisters in Cyprus. When we came back from a holiday in the sun, our igloo had melted. Right now, we have gales, rain and cold, yuk πŸ₯Ά

Cyprus sounds good right about now! πŸ™„ But your poor igloo! Maybe you needed more gloo, than ig? πŸ™„ πŸ€—πŸ’•πŸŽ„

Winter: when a hot flash hits or I get overheated, I can just open the front door and 20 degrees fixes me up quick! V has seen snow but never played in it, and I hope this year we get a decent amount of the good kind of snow you can pack because lately it’s been gross wintry mix.

Our Holiday: Well, our recent negative life drama has mostly come to an end. It will be just us and my mom this year here at home, but we have planned a few things in the city that I’m so excited to finally see! Two of them are drive through lights, so babies and oldies can stay warm too. Other than that I will enjoy a travel and stress free holiday! V got her fancy Xmas pic with a fancy Santa and cried her face off, but we will have a silly family photo taken soon. Gosh she loves the tree! β€œWant hold it? No, don’t touch it” is what she says to herself now 🀣 We have watched Elf at least 12 times already 😬 but Die Hard is still on the to do list.

Whatever: In two weeks I’ll be going to sleep a mom of one for the last time πŸ₯° It’s terrifying and exciting! 😡πŸ₯°

I hope next year we can skip Xmas at home and go on a cruise πŸŽ‰πŸ

Just chiming in to say that I love the love for DIE HARD as a Christmas movie, kdali

...because it is! :) Maybe not a traditional one, but still so good and one of the best movies ever.

May I also suggest that GREMLINS is a Christmas movie as well?? Even more so than Die Hard!

Great and fun thread, Jesmcd2 !

Nothing says holiday cheer quite like β€œNow I have a machine gun, HO HO HO” 🀣 Die Hard is an annual holiday requirement in our house, along with Elf, the original Grinch cartoon, Love Actually, Scrooged, Home Alone, and we watch Nightmare Before Christmas a few times from Oct to Dec. Gremlins is in the rotation and we watched it two years ago and laughed our faces off! Sometimes we will do Charlie Brown, Christmas Vacation, and Four Christmases. Since we have Disney Plus and a toddler now, we have watched the Mickey specials and I see two Xmas movies listed that we have never heard of we will try out.

I love saving special movies to watch on specific holidays, but Die Hard and Elf are the two this family really looks forward to this time of year. πŸ₯°

johnMSAAPartner in reply to kdali

Well of course, SCROOGED is my all-time favorite Christmas movie...anything Bill Murray, any time in life, always helps.

Yes, it's great catching up with old holiday favorites and some random ones I didn't know existed on all of the archived content on Disney+ !

I’m so sorry! It’s a shame, but I’m reluctant to go spend my $30 and 3hrs and a babysitter on a remake or next episode (looking at you, Baby Yoda) because they have been so awful for at least 5 years now. Maybe longer! I never watched the last Indiana Jones because I suspected it was garbage. Every so often we get duped though πŸ€£πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

I would never in my right mind spend money on a remake it came on cable.

I dont go see movies they will be on cable in a year

Money and valuable time saved

When i was little we got hit with one blizzard right after another. My dad was afraid that his added weight to the snow piled up on the roof would cause it to cave in. So he had me and my little sister get up on the roof and shove the snow off the roof. When we were done we got to jump off the roof into the snow! We had a blast doing that!! We were entertained for hours!

Jesmcd2 profile image

That's funny! We had a blizzard here in NY, and the snow blow up against the porch. About 5 ft? And I was pushing my lil brother off, and he would roll down. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

My mom freaked!! She thought I was pushing him off 5 ft. Till he stood up. 😁🀣😭🀣

I was born in Massachusetts and lived in Connecticut before my dad got transferred to Indiana. In Conn. we had a big hill behind our house and it was great for sledding. Our house was up a bit of a rise until this hill. It had a 1 car garage where my dad put his car and my mom parked perpendicular to the house to the side.

One afternoon we were sledding down the hill. I was only allowed to be on the saucer and not the sled. My oldest brother had a black sled with red runners. I thought that was so cool! Everyone was cold and going to go in so I asked my brother if I could take just 1 ride down the hill on his sled. He said, just 1! and gave me the sled. They all went in as I climbed to the top. It was so much fun going down that hill on my belly on that sled until.... I shot past the house and all I could see was the tire of my mom's car coming closer and closer. Wham! I ran into the tire. I didn't cry but it really shook me up. (I was 5.) I went in and put my brothers' sled quietly away and never asked to ride it again!

OMG! You could have been killllllledddd! πŸ™ˆ Was it fun until then? πŸ™„ I bet it was AWESOME! πŸ˜‚

Ever ride the saucer again Evel Knievel? πŸ€—πŸ’•β›„

Yes. It was a Long time before I rode a sled again! My brother died at the age of 20 in 1964. I have that sled.

My 2 oldest brothers both died when they were 20 and 21, four years apart. So my 2 sisters and I figured we wouldn't outlive our 20s and never made anything out of ourselves. You know, if you won't make it to 30 why have career plans? But we're still kicking. I'm the youngest at 60.
