I have a baclofen pump for spasms. My original pump dr programmed an afternoon bolus into it. A couple months ago I had my pump dr now (because the original dr isn't in practice anymore) remove my afternoon bolus. This past week I've been regretting it because the newer pump dr doesn't fully know how it's done because he doesn't use them. Now I'm wondering how to get it reinstated to do the bolus again. The closest pump dr if you can get in is around 100 miles away.

I wish I had an answer for you but I do have a question for you please. Going to see a doctor tomorrow to see if I am a candidate for one. Is it worth it?
I hope you sorted soon dailygrump40 please let us know how you get on, Blessings Jimeka 👍
Can you go to the hospital 🏥. They might have reader ? Why don’t you request a remote so you can do bolus your self....mine is setup so I can give myself a bolus every four hours as needed. I mainly use it in evening or when extra pain. This way you could use it as needed rather then depending on setting. 👍🙏😊. Ken 🐾🐾
How old is your pump? I was never given the option for my own remote. Interesting.
I had my pump replaced six months ago, the other was seven years old. I have had a remote with both of them. Both have been Medtronic’s. It is 2”x3” and use two triple a batteries. Doctor set it every four hours as needed. I probably average 1-2 times a day depending on what I doing. Ken 🐾🐾
dailygrump40 & Kenu I was just doing some reading and catching up on our member posts, I am curious about the pumps. I take Baclofen 10 mg tabs 2 1/2 tab at 10:30 AM and again at 3:30 PM. I also take Gabapentin & Modafinil at various time during the day. I'm feeling so tied to those darn phone alarms and thinking of the convenience of a pump😊.. MS is not going away☹️ Where can I read up on them? I have Neuro appt in April and it may come up. Thanks in advance!
The baclofen pump is a last resort option. I probably wasn't supposed to hear that being said, but I did. Medtronic is the maker of mine. Here check out this link. medtronic.com/us-en/patient...
dailygrump , has given you the manufacturer of my pump. I am on my second pump, it was replace March last year after seven years on the first on 👍. Mine is in my right side just under my ribcage and just above belt line. There are several medications you can mix in them for pain and spasms 👍. Mine runs 24/7 and then I requested a remote to do bolus shots as needed every four hours 😊. They can set it up automatically for certain times of the day, but I wanted mine as needed. It takes about five minutes for the bolus to kick in so that’s Great for me. Of course they set it a little lower so it takes couple months to dial it in. After the first year I had it at a good spot. So about once a year I have had it upped as I adapted and no changes for last year and half. It is still so low that I have a long ways to go 👍😊. Has been the best thing I have done ✅. The nice thing is it doesn’t effect my kidneys or liver 🙏. Also no brain 🧠 effects for pain meds 👍. Good luck , it’s been Great for me 😘 Ken 🐾🐾
I hope that helps you. There is another pill for energy besides Modafanil for energy and it's only once a day. Armodafinal. Generic for Nuvigil. I wouldn't tell you if I didn't like it. I was taking 4 200 mg Modafanil pills a day. 2 at wakeup and 2 at lunch. Now I take 2 Armodafinal 250 mg pill in the a.m.
Thank you both! will look into all suggestions. I take 2 - 200 mg modafinil, 1 in am, 1 in pm doc told me that was the limit. It is a generic form of provigil.
Dr. only upped my dosage today. He claimed he's never heard of a remote for the pump to give boluses. He doesn't even offer boluses to new pump users. I was surprised at that. I asked him about Medical marijuana and he wants me to wait a couple months to see if the government loosens up on it so the insurance companies can cover it because it'll cost 250.00 just to get a MM card to get it then around 150.00 a month to buy it.
