Well those seem to be a great thing abouti but there is nothing I want to see up or down stairs. Since I haven’t been able to go up or down I know both places have not been in any type of order so I don’t want to see them. If you know what I mean.

I am thinking of moving because I currently live in a 2 story with a basement and an attic. A chair lift could be an option, however I would rather downsize to a 1 story home. :-D

I know what you mean. But my house is small and all that I need is all on my level.

That is all that I need as well as my children have 'flown' the nest! :-D

Carole, We had a 2-1/2 story farmhouse on 20 acres. Downsizing and moving to a smaller, one-story house has been wonderful! My sewing room was on the 3rd floor at the old house. I can't tell you the number of trips up and down those stairs I made each day! It was great exercise, but with MS, I'm looking at preserving energy and at safety.

My husband fell in love with a 2-story house and wanted to buy it and put in one of those chair lifts. We would have managed had that been the only choice, but I'm thrilled to be here on one level.

Oh I am happy that there is hope with regards to finding a house with no challenging stairs. My 'sewing' room is my dining room, and it is right on the first floor. My bedroom and full bathroom is on the second floor. I am thankful for a 1/2 bathroom on the first floor. I am so looking forward to 1 story living, but for the time being, look at the stairs as my form of exercise ~ cruel as it may be. :-D

Jazinco, I am very happy for you that YOU now have the freedom to choose where You want to be in your own home. After my beautiful husband had our home remodified for me 9 years ago before I got my first power chair, I now able to go virtually anywhere I Wish throughout My Home. Granted, I Live in a One Story House, but It Had Two Levels with a srep going down into a A pretty large area of our living space. I was in a manual chair at that time and was unable to actually be in the living room where htelevision, stereo and my piano were. It was a pretty lonely life for A couple of years living that way. I felt like a prisoner paying a debt that I did not owe. Then, my husband had th step down area filled in and level with the rest of the house. He tiled throughout the house with wood floors in our 3 bedrooms. I absolutely LOVE MY FREEDOM! He also had a ramp built from my kitchen door going out to our garage so I can go outside and enjoy the fresh air, roll around The neighborhood and talk to my neighbors. We live in an Area where there are lots of beautiful trees and small wildlife. I have had MS for 40 years – been in a wheelchair since 1992, but now that I have had my power chair for the past 9 years I feel like I am as normal and able as I was before I took to the wheelchair. I try not to dwell on those old memories – even though you never forget. Even though, my life is NOT all peaches and cream – far from it in fact because I cannot even wash myself , Dress myself, eat without assistance, get on the toilet, into or out of bed, And many more things on my own –but I am so grateful to have, first of all, my loving husband who loves me beyond love and recognizes my needs for a peaceful and comfortable quality of life. I am blessed and grateful to have such a loving man for my husband. You are as well. Do enjoy your freedom of being able to go anywhere you choose! β€οΈπŸ™
