The train 🚂 was stopped. My brother was running the plow/auger unit in front blowing snow out! Crazy 😝. He has hit so many different animals on the tracks😢. Amazing they live in those conditions 😲. Ken 🐾🐾

Cow catcher is just to keep animal from going under 🚂. Still kills animal just pushing to the side😔. Usually in the snow the train keeps going as it would be hard to start back up due to ice and snow on tracks. Several years ago he hit a heard of antelope bedded down in middle of tracks at night going 70 mph and killed 68. They called fish and game and they go out to site. Ken

I am amazed that they do not move! You'd think that the vibration on the track plus the noise and seeing it would alert them and they'd get going!

I haven't seen snow that deep in years. Is that all from one storm or just an accumulation over the winter?

No it’s accumulation thru the winter ❄️. He said couple weeks before they had a spot with 25 foot drift and Barrie’s plow unit. They had trainmen on snow machines following and dug down to them and had to crawl out windows. Had a couple more units come up from behind and pulled it out. He said they backed up half mile and headed towards it again at 40 mph and broke thru ! Said it was pretty scary and had to clean his pants 👖 out😲😝😂🤣😆. Ken 🐾🐾

That’s a wonderful picture. That snow is unreal. We’ve had minimal snow in Southwestern Connecticut this winter, unlike most years.
