How much of each r u taking?
Thanks for the article link. The research showing positive benefit from optimal vitamin D levels is pretty solid, and I have to take 10,000 IU/day to keep my serum level in the range my neurologist and rheumatologist both want. However, the high-dose biotin research has a long way to go, and the results from the small studies showing a worsening of disability and increase in new lesion development in progressive forms of MS is concerning. My MS specialist is on top of the research as well and did not want me experimenting with it at this stage - he said the risk is that it could make things worse instead of better. Everyone please be careful taking high doses of something that is unproven and has very conflicting research results so far. Sometimes the label "vitamin" can impart a false sense of safety. Vitamins act like drugs in the body and can have major effects, and the doses being used with biotin for MS experimentation are extremely potent. I will continue to follow the research but will sit on the biotin sidelines for now. I do supplement my diet with omega 3's, but nothing extreme because once again, we just don't know enough yet.
Great advice Diane, thanks, I'd rather experiement on the vits. Than being a human pun cushion & guinea pig for the Harmacutical companies anyday! LOL!πβ€πππππππΈπππMany Prayers & Blessings---Jazmine

Hey JazmineRose,
Eureka!
I have been on biotin, 1Xday, 500mcg, since my diagnosis. My neuro has me on vitamin D3, 2Xday, 2000IU for a number of years, and I recently added fish oil, 2Xday, 675mg, in December 2017, to the mix. So, unwittingly, I HAVE been on this. My neuro has noted that my PPMS progression has been very slow. Can I credit that to the biotin? I don't know.
My neuro has also mentioned, in the past, that my vitamin D levels were very low, so she prescribed the vitamin D supplement. That has made my level stay in the acceptable range.
I remember last year, I had stiff, achy joints. Fingers, hips, knees, wrists, lower back. If there was a joint there, it was sore. I added the fish oil, I feel SO much better.
Is this combo of supplements a key for a cure? Perhaps. I forwarded the article to my neuro and told her that I am open to take any tests to validate/invalidate the article.
So, you may be on to something!
Keep smiling,
Carole
Yep, i think so Carole, it could very well be, I am doing another experiment that I will let everyone know how it went. Ok!πΉπΊπππππΎππβ€ππππMany Blessings
Thanks for the link. It's what I do which has helped me. However I can't take biotin because of my thyroid medicine.

Yikes - I just found this that is worth reading and quite recent. This correlates with what my neurologist told me and Iβm PPMS so think Iβll definitely pass on the high dose biotin.

Yikes is right Diane, then it is a fat soluable vitamun like D3 is, ant high dose of those can cause toxicity, reason I 'll do a low dose of it, like our Carolek does in mcg, instead of high mgs. So, yeah we do need to be careful with those fat soluable vitamins. Thanks for that link.πππΊπΉππΈπππMuch Love, Prayers & Blessings---Jazmine
Hey dianekjs,
Interesting article!
My daily intake of biotin (vitamin H) is part of my vitamin B complex. My neuro is aware of me taking it, and I have been taking my vitamin B complex since my diagnosis in 2006. And it is a low dose, 500mcg, but according to the bottle, that translates to 1667% of recommended daily intake.
When starting on any regime, you should first discuss with your neuro/doctor.
Keep smiling,
Carole
Good news about Vitamin D and Omega 3 oils, at least!
I ought to track my omega 3 intake for a while to see if I need a supplement as well. For now Iβm trying to get it from eating βSMASHβ fish at least twice a weekβsalmon, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, herring; truthfully, usually sardines as theyβre not too pricy and are easy to get.
