Hi, I’ve been lurking for a little while after finding this message board while researching a new to me medicine my neurologist wants to shift me to. (Aubagio)
My diagnosis came in 1995 after a round of optic neuritis. Originally, the doctors were perplexed as my brain MRIs showed no plaques but my progression was more in line with CPMS.(Most of my plaques are in my thoracic and cervical areas and these extra MRI locations weren’t usually done back in the ‘90’s. )
Other than one time I couldn’t walk, going blind in my right eye for about six months, the numbness, neuropathy and fatigue are my greatest issues along with a few optic neuritis mini flares- I have been incredibly fortunate with my MS.
Now, for the fun stuff- at least to me- I truly enjoy so many areas. I worked in two state run veterinary testing laboratories along with being in charge of the necessary diagnostic testing of the specific pathogen free flock of chickens whose eggs were used for vaccine production. I’ve had a gift and children’s clothing store and enjoyed a time as a partner in a children’s clothing company-that I used to carry in my store - as well as doing design work of fabric, garments and appliqués for other children’s clothing companies.
Recently, I accepted a position to help with volunteer coordination for a historic property where I helped with school tours, festivals and other events. This proved to be a bit too much for me as I was trying to continue to volunteer for the events and hearth cook for school tours. (This location is a Colonial living agricultural location.)
I love gardening, anything creative- from painting to knitting to embroidery, community volunteering and restoring old homes and dwellings.
My husband and I have been married for 26 years and we have two precocious dogs- Reggie is a rescue JRT and Harry is a corgi who tests every fiber of my being on most days. (He’s still young- at least that’s what I’m telling myself and he will become less adventurous with age.)
Looking forward to getting to know y’all and while I can’t promise I’ll be posting frequently as I’m still trying to create a balance between my online life and everything else-I’ll do my best to be a part of this fab community!
