Has anyone heard anything about Lions Mane Mushrooms?

Interesting read about them and the ability to rebuild myelin sheath in the brain. Not that it’s the miracle cure we all wish for, just wondering if anyone has ever tried them. Going to speak to my neurologist this month about it...if I remember!! LoL!

I remember hearing about it on the radio awhile back, but I couldn’t find any really thorough discussion or research about it then. I’ll have to look at your info. Thanks!

Yep, there’s a few others out there too. I found some videos and even a power point presentation once! I’ve got a mushroom blend (six sigma or something on amazon) it’s in and I put it in my coffee, but I’m just looking for the immune benefits of mushrooms. Who knows what the dose of lions mane should be and where to get it sourced from. I think half of what is sold as herbs is just dust and lies anyway. I’m interested in what your neurologist will say! I won’t ask mine, I can imagine the look on her face 😂 while she says, if there’s no risk, then you’ve got nothing to lose but money!

I’m hoping I get an eye roll 🙄, or happy face 🙃 out of her. Sometimes I say things just to see if they are really listening. LoL!! Great point about the dosage and dust. Definitely warrants more research

When on earth, esp. With a lil one, do you find time to investigate all of these things kdali ? 🤓

Hah! I don’t! I had several months after diagnosis where I totally fell face first into all things MS. I even had my hubs print articles at work (he’s a MD with handy access to online journals) and took those with us on vacation. He eventually told me I needed to stop the MS-insanity.

I found out about the sigma whatever blend in my coffee because I was watching a YouTube video on keto and saw it, then bam, I remembered the mushroom thing! Then someone on here mentioned colds with Ocrevus and I decided I better figure out how to ingest that nasty stuff.

I’ve been looking into these for awhile because a good friend of mine takes them for hearing loss caused by nerve damage. I talked to my acupuncturist and she is all for them too. They have been used in Eastern Medicine for over a thousand years. In the articles I’ve read, Western Medicine studies have been confirming what the Chinese have known about Lion’s Mane all this time. I’m thinking it might be worth a try. I just haven’t determined what dose yet but know the brand I will try.

Ever since a medical disaster when I was young, I’ve not looked to Western Medicine for all the answers. I like checking out alternatives but will research them to death before trying.

So, what brand? Reliability is soooo important. Any known side effects, toxicities, drug interactions? Thanks!

Yes, brand please Raingrrl

I turned to Eastern medicine when we were diagnosed with infertility. Didn’t work, but no side effects.

Yes, I started using Lion's Mane Mushroom Mycelium Powder about a month ago. I took it for three days , then, all of a sudden, my frustratingly difficult brain started to work. And that result has ccontinued.

Now my brain is functioning so much better! It is so much better I can hardly not laugh for joy.

The label: Host Defense Mushrooms Lion's Mane Mushroom Mycelium Powder. Mental Clarity & Focus Dietary Supplement Net Wt. 3.5 oz (100g) Certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture. It is organic, freeze dried and heat treated.

I take 1/2 teaspoon once a day and I have thought about taking it twice a day. Apparently, it can be taken 3X/day.

I hope it works very well for you, too. Nemaste, Bodega

So for those that asked about brand...

There is a well known mycologist here in the PNW named Paul Stamets. fungi.com/about-paul-stamet... He has written well-received scholarly papers on Mushrooms and their benefits. I had found him and his company awhile back while researching this topic. There is a lot of info on his website if you like nerdy articles like I do.

I asked my acupuncturist for a recommendation of what to buy and she pointed me to his company so that is a good endorsement of his brand. I haven’t tried them yet because of cost but when I do I’ll buy his brand: “Host Defense”. You can buy them direct from his website or Amazon.

I’m going to talk to my Internal Medicine doc at my appointment in Aug. about them. She is open to alternative therapies so it will be interesting to see what she says.
