Diagnosed in middle age, makes it so hard to accept not working. As for me, what I did and can continue to do, is a great part of who I am. Boggles my mind sometime. My obstacle is residing in a city where there is no mass transit system. So until I am able to get a car, I am bereft of my sense of independence financially, self-worth after pursuing education and training, makes me so sad.

MS is a very sad disease. Can the community you live in help you get out and about? Many help people with disabilities and the elderly get around.

Having to rely on others is difficult, especially when we are unaccustomed to doing so.

Are there any church groups or service clubs that can help in any way? Sometimes there are county or state departments that are able to connect you to services. It may involve a lot of phone calls.

I hope you find a way to get around more easily. Be sure to check with MS-specific resources, too, such as MSAA.

Relying on others for transportation, well, to put it nicely stinks!

I have been doing it for so long now, I don't remember what it was like to be that independent.

I have cooling devices, good shoes, kosher up-scale organic foods, private water supply and more. Please know Secondary Progressive MS is a different beast. As far as the meds are concerned, it sounds as though that I just may know more about these oral meds than you may think. First generation of these meds was marketed in January, 2010. Look into it's original purpose, educate yourself and follow the bucks globally.

Join studies outside of the country. this has been an 18 year study for me. I have the enormous blessing of a German doctor who taught, guided, and supplies me with up-dated data.

Having been privy to so much, naturally my decisions defer.
