It is interesting.Looking back also at ancestors and what they were diagnosed is helpful(i take it all a grain of salt)......It also concluded I have a very small(ut exciting) amount of Nigerian descent along with what ive always marked OTHER.Journals help me also see what they went thru ages before MS diagnosed to the world.Would love to know if anyones experience although i realize how private this is too.thank you all....

MS/is there genetic testing?Anyone do the ancestor DNA?I got it as a gift.
I haven’t tried it, but I may give it a whirl. My grandma was Dutch so it would be interesting to find out if that is picked up. Thank you 😊
My grandmother was a mixture of European blood but had Native American blood, too. It is unfortunate that the testing cannot determine which tribe she was descended from. My only mystery.
I've been told my tiny bit of American Indian is Cherokee. I'm just getting into genealogy, my dad was adopted as a infant by his mother's 2nd husband so we don't know my dad's heritage.
My heritage is mostly English, Irish, a bit Scott and about 1/16th American Indian. No one in our family ever had MS as far back as I can trace. There was a little "hush, hush" conversation between my mom and aunt after their father passed away. He was a country doctor and there was some suggestion that he may have diagnosed himself with cancer and when it got too bad, did what he felt he had to do to spare others. The year was 1952 and I was 4 yrs old. I barely recall his pant legs, shoes and the feeling of intimidation around him. I don't believe MS was an identified disease at that time.
wow, good memory...English scott irish less than 1 % Nigeriean isberian(sp) pennensula , scandanavian is where a Alpha 1 trigger is...They say docs are the worst patients?Oh boy do i know that hush hush...was it the era?We went from the C word to actually saying cancer.interesting question of when MS was announced...ty Calfee
I too was given the Ancestry DNA kit as a gift. I haven’t done it yet although you have made me want to get moving now. I believe all of my family roots are in Ireland although it will be interesting to see. I had a distant cousin who had MS. I never met her. She’s the only person I know of with it. My sister has Parkinson’s so autoimmune issues are present in this generation.
My husband and I have both done the Ancestry kit. Fun!
