Yes vitamin D is very important. I take 5000 ui. Cranberry pills are something else i take cuz UTIβs can become an issue. Also ask for a copy of ur blood test to see if u r low on potassium or calcium.
I take B-12 and vit D3 you need to have your dr tell you how much to take. take a high level of both because my body doesn't produce them.
I also take magnesium, which was recommended by the neurologist for migraines. I the it at night as it also helps with sleep.
500 mg . It's become a sleep aid, but am really taking it to help prevent migraines. I remind me neurologist to periodically test my magnesium levels as I've read that too much or too little are both bad.
My doctor suggested magnesium glycinate to help prevent migraines. She also recommended NAC 600mg daily, B-Right complex, fish oil at 3000 mg daily, and alpha lipoic acid 600mg twice a day. The alpha lipoic acid is thought to prevent brain atrophy. Though I was skeptical, I must say that I really donβt have true migraines now, though menopause seemed to have taken already care of that. My walking is better since beginning the NAC, which is N-acetylcysteine. I also take a multivitamin and calcium, as well as 5000IU of Vitamin D. My doctor monitors my vitamin levels to make sure I donβt overdo anything.
Maybe Iβm just thick, what benefits do you receive from NAC? (Sounds like another abbreviation that I need to add to our listπ)
You're far from thick! I can't find the link to a study I found concerning NAC, but my PCP recommended it. After reading the study, which seemed to make sense, I began taking it for its anti-inflammatory properties. If I stumble on that study, I'll post it.
I tried to look it up too. No real good definition of benefits.
I didnβt read of any real negatives about it, so thatβs good.
Magnesium should help alot and vit D but you should have your blood level checked first . Greater than 50 vit D is best with a MS diagnosis.
I take 6000units of vitamin D 3suggested by neurologist. I also take Kirkland adult multiple vitamin as it covers everything π Other than that I just try to eat healthy πππΎπ© Ken

Y'll make me the bad guy! π
Vit. D is a big one. Most if not all of us are on it. Very high doses of it also. π

NAC 600mg
Hello jeremyhess1980,
Yes. Certainly taking supplements can help. They certainly have with me. I have been on a B-Complex, and Vitamin D for a number of years. I also take calcium, C, magnesium, curcumin, Omegas, etc. Taking supplements that are suited for you, especially if recommended by your doctor(s), is a good idea. Just make sure that your doctor(s) know about all your supplements.
Another piece of advice, research exactly what is in your supplements, because how the supplement is derived from is more important than you think. Make sure that you ask your doctor about which supplement would be best for you.
To your health!
Anyone on CoQ10 or turmeric?
Yes I take turmeric to help with inflammation.
Hi I take omega 3 fish oil capsules and high dose Vit D tablets not sure what else to take at the mo ππππππ. I try to stick to chicken, Turkey, fish and limit or avoid red meat. And drink plenty of water too πππππ
Fish oil, vitami d, vitamin c, calcium, coconut oil, multivitamin and melatonin
Hi StacyHayward does the melatonin help u with sleep? Hope u don't mind me asking u xxx ππππ
I just started it about a month ago. It definitely helps my sleep, but my dreams are very vivid and my daytime fatigue seems much worse. Also it sometimes upsets my stomach. And my blood pressure shot up.
Iβm trying to give it time. Feeling like Iβve gotten sleep is nice. My blood pressure had started dropping again. But still fighting increased fatigue.
Fatigue is very hard I'm hoping to go back to work on reduced hours,....I'm a staff nurse in Endoscopy in the good old NHS here in England. Getting a good night's sleep is good for u hun xxxxx π
I know it is. Just canβt figure out why the better I sleep the more fatigued I get! Even without melatonin.
I would like to know what else...If they help the MSG, I will just return more bottles to the recycle center... π
Flax oil or ground flax seeds and vitamin D, but I do large doses of both per OMS (Overcoming MS) recommendations. They don't "work" as in changing how I feel/think/move, but they do work for some people in relapse reduction/delaying progression to disability. Oh, and caffeine and that one does work well for me most of the time!
