jackiesj i have the opposite problem. House so damp our dehumidifier remove about 6 gallons water a day and still not down to 40%. And I am allergic to dust mites and mold which are thriving! In spite of that we have dry skin (I think low immune system) and chemicals in lotions make it worse. SO, my daughter (who has similar probkems) taught me about essential oils. WOW! And diffusers for aromatherapy. The diffusers put moisture in the air all the time and you choose the essential oil you won’t either for sleeping or energy or just the right woodsy or floral frangrance. It is great. Can buy different sizes at Walmart and the oils. But making my own lotion was the best idea my daughter gave me. I melt coconut oil, shea butter, besswax pellets (for their healing power) and after cool add whatever oils you need. I have one lotion for pain that has lidocaine, eucalyptus, wintergreen and basil. Great for back orcarms or legs. Just general lotion I put in the good smelling oils like vanilla jasmine lavender chamomile (soothes anxiety and emotions). There is so much to learn but mainly I know I am not putting more chemicals in my bloodstream to progress my MS. There is one combination dedicated to MS to rub on my chest forvgeneral pain. Another oil combination to run directly at base of skull where I have so much pain. Dry needling helps that for a few days. When your nose is dry you can just breathe in the moisture from the diffuser. Took me 3 years of researching before I tried it. Now I am a believer! If you find a humidifier be sure to put a little vinegar in the water. They are notorious for breeding bacteria. May God lead you to wisdom and relief.

What kind of heat do you have? If it is forced air you have several good options. I have an" Aprilair"inexpensive to operate and mimimal maintenance.

We added one to our HVAC but I was expecting it to do more. I have a pitcher of water by my bed and drink when I get up because I'm up all the time anyway.

Coconut oil after your bath/shower works really well and it's not sticky.

jackiesj I live in Salt Lake City where there humidity level year round hovers between 9 and 15 %! My skin is always dry and I am always drinking coconut water. The very best lotion that everyone I know here uses is called Cetaphil. You want the cream in the tub. It is not greasy at all and works wonders. If I do not use it for a few days my skin gets so dry. That is because it is basically a desert here. I heard about a really good humidifier, but will have to find the name of it for you. By the way, the Cetaphil is around $14 for the container but it lasts really long. I really think you would love it. If you can’t find it where you are, let me know and I would be really happy to send you some, no cost involved 😍. Take care. Love, Kelly xx

Amore55 dermatologists often recommend cetaphil. I'm adding to my next shopping list. Thanks!

Hey! What's with all the dryness? Is it MS or aging or meds (accept I'm on no DMTs)?

Hydrate from the inside with fish oil, flax seed, water. Eucerin cream is too messy for me but is ok, coconut oil, Keri lot. Bio oil, aquaphor for lips, ...

Curious what others use?

jackiesj I swear by Vanicream. I have always had skin & smell sensitivity. It is used in hospitals and 100% fragrance free. I have tried all of the others and they would quit working for me after a few years. I have used Vanicream daily for 20+ years now. It is sold @ Target & Walgreens but is sometimes kept behind the pharmacy counter (but no prescription is needed). The tub is usually $15.99 but lasts many months. Walgreens frequently has it on sale. Hope this helps! (PS-MN winters are hard on the skin!)

Jackiesj, it's Fancy1959. I personally have noticed the older I get, after menopause especially, the drier my skin gets. I'm sure MS might magnify it, but it's all part of the aging process. Find a good lotion, I personally use Udderly Smooth with lanolin over the counter. Don't forget to buy a good humidifier as it will also help alot. Jes recommended that you get a cool mist humidifier. Hope this helps. Fancy and Jes

My PCP told me to use baby oil for my dry skin. You would apply it after your bath.

I also use Vaseline for when I wash my hands. I apply right after I dry my hands .

I would look like I not used anything when I used Cetaphil.
