I had my MRI's done last Tuesday and got the results yesterday. My MRI's are stable but I am showing some brain shrinkage. Not happy with that, but I am happy there are no new lesions and the lesions I have are not showing as active.

Bygonelines are you pleased with your treatment? What type of ms do you have and what medication are you using.? How did the you tube competition go? Blessings Jimeka π¦ π
I am pleased with my treatment, though it is unconventional. I am currently off all MS drugs. I felt way worse and had too many negative side effects and no positive effects from them. I have a great neurologist and PA that I work with. They are not overly happy with my choice to go off drugs but are willing to support me, especially since my MRI's are stable. My neurologst said that I am now getting to the age where she would consider taking me off drugs anyway because I am stable. I currently do some chair yoga and the MS Gym. In addition I am taking supplements and using essential oils. My disability is getting worse but I am feeling better than I have in a couple of years. I don't have anywhere near as much pain as I was having so for me that is a win. I am also working on changing my eating habits. Making small changes so I can hopefully stick to them. So for now anyway, I will continue on as I have been.
Is that age related shrinkage?
I don't think it is. I was reading the report and the statement made by the radiologist is that I have brain shrinkage "consistent with MS". So I took that to mean it is more MS related than age related though at 54 yrs old it is also probably partly age related.
Iβm thrilled to hear your good news, but am sorry about the shrinkage. I, too, wonder if it is related solely to MS. Does your doctor have a theory? Have you read anything about alpha lipoeic acid?
I know that brain shrinkage does happen as part of the aging process. I don't know how old you are butt my husband (age 70) had an MRI and it did show brain shrinkage and the Dr. was not at all alarmed. He said that is normal as we grow older (he does NOT have MS)
I also had some brain shrnkage, neuro said typical for me age. Congrats on being stable!
Congrats on the stable scan! π Brain shrinkage is normal as you age, but there are lots of studies out there (exercise, diet, meditation) showing volume gains. I would find it upsetting also.
Congratulations on no new lesions. I am always happy that they still find that I still have a brain on my MRIs. Lol.

It's always Great need to hear when lesions are stable!π Bygonelines I don't remember if I asked before or not, but have you always been off DMT's? π
