Good Morning Everyone. Hope you all had a good weekend. My fatigue was overwhelming the past two days...my neurologist wants me to try aderal. Does it work and should I be concerned about side effects?

Aderal (sp? )

mrsmike i have never heard of Adderal so I googled it. You probably have already but it said that the 3 main side effects were, insomnia, loss of appetite and dry mouth. Let us know how you get on, blessings Jimeka 🦋 🌈
@jimeka, you're right I did a Google search. I was hoping someone could give me their experience with it. It will be at least another week before I get the drug as still waiting for all of the Rx info to go thru. ..good thing it isn't an emergency! I'll keep you posted and all the best to you.

mrsmike I don't take it myself, but do know others here and in person that take it and have good things about it.
If your having concerns about it. Talk to your Neuro more about to make you feel more comfortable. Or the pharmacist.
Let us know how you make out?😊

I googled it and wonder if it's similar to Ritalin, which I take for fatigue. Took amantadine about 20 years ago. It worked for a couple years, then nothing. Provigil didn't work for me-just kept my mind going nonstop. 😬 I'm currently on Ritalin-also for ADHD and it helps me 'push through' the fatigue to get more done. I'm still exhausted and need a nap, etc., but I'd be a total slug without it. It also helps a tiny bit with that fuzzy/dizzy/full-head sensation I often get. It doesn't take it totally away, but I do welcome me the improvement I notice with it. Let us know what you decide and how it works for you! 💕
You can talk to your pharmacist about it before you get it filled. They are wonderful resources that most people forget about. If you normally have tummy issues with stimulants(coffee, cigarettes, energy drinks) then ask if you can eat before you take it. Insomnia? Take it early. Scared of taking it in general? Ask if you can take half a pill for your first dose. Ask what you can take if it gives you a headache.
For most people it works very well and with no side effects.
Good luck!
@mrsmike I was on Aderal for my ADHD! It was awful!
Uh oh! Good to know. This is why this is a great place to turn to. You get honest answers from everyone. Thanks to all of you for your comments and suggestions. Have a great day.
I hope it works, if you try it. My Dr. wrote me a prescription, but my insurance wouldn't cover it. I think it was $325/mo.
I have taken Adderall and it was great. I had no side effects and I just took it when I needed it. Unfortunately we had a change in our insurance and our new insurance will not cover it because it has not been approved for MS. I even tried to appeal their decision. I would highly recommended that you try it. I hope that it works for you.
Hi mrsmike. Good luck with the adderal. I'm trying modafinil and it is working for me.
I was not able to take the medication due to my heart. I do know some that it has helped.
Best of luck!
