Can anyone recommend a Long term Care facility that is specifically dedicated to care for individuals with MS or ALS in northern new jersey or new York city area?

amyshein , I believe you are new here. Welcome! Do you have MS or are you a caregiver?

I hope someone living in your area here can give you more info, but you can also call the MSAA Client Services Specialists at 800-532-7667, ext. 154, Mon-Fri 8:30am to 5pm, EST. I hope they are able to provide a list of recommended facilities.

Wishing you a good day. πŸ’•

Amyshein, it's Fancy1959 and I wanr to welcome you to this amazing chat room. It doesn't matter if you have MS if you are a caregiver we welcome you either way. We offer support for both groups want to tell you you have found the safe to come and talk to people who understand, ask questions or voice concerns and when you speak to us you'll find it you are speaking to some of the most caring and compassionate people I never met.

Tutu's suggestion about talking to MSAA Client Services was extremely sound. I want to offer a secondary resource for you to chat with. Call The National MS Society at 1-800-FIGHTMS and they will assigned a case manager to you. They'll also direct you to the chapter closest to where you live. I'm certain they will be able to offer suggestions for any assistance you might need, including long care facilities for MS patients.

We're glad you're aboard and please let us know what about long-term care facilities. As I tell everyone we have much we can learn from each other. Learning about Long Term Care Facilities would be beneficial to know about to us and I am certain others in this chat room. Until we speak again please take care.

@amyshein, some years ago I became aware of this housing for people with MS, and I believe it's still in operation:

nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/...

More on it:

main.nationalmssociety.org/...

It sounds like an excellent type of housing. It's just too bad there isn't more like it.
