Has anyone out there been placed in the hospital for their ms? My husband and I are at our it's end to know what to do. Today I can't even lift a coffee cup. We don't kno what they could do for me, any experiences? Thank you. Kelly

I insisted on hospitalization when my MS related trigeminal neuralgia pain was out of control and I had lost more than 20 lbs in a few weeks (couldn't eat due to pain). The ER wanted to send me home with a prescription and I refused to leave. I was stabilized after a few days on trials of various meds, some IV

Surely they can consider (more?) high dose IV steroids or I know plasmapheresis is discussed for severe non-responsive exacerbations.

Is your neuro still saying hang in there? If so, I'd be seeking other help!

My prayers sent to you Kelly. Please let us know how u r doing.

Kelly - I defintely recommend that you go up to the University hospital. You can go to the ER or you can go to their Urgent Care Clinic (Same entrance as ER). The hospital can havethe neurologist look at you. Since your neurologist decided to leave your clinic high and dry I would go to the U. I am sure they can at least give you some steroids. They will also be able to make sure that nothing else is going on.

Love, Jacqui

Amore55 It's way past time to head to the ER. I don't know if you have contacted your Neuro or not yet. Nor does it matter anymore. It's time to get checked out NOW!

Good luck Kelly 😊

My prayers are with you 💕

Amore55... I agree with the others. It sounds like you are in a flareup and might benefit from high dose steroids to calm things down. Please get to an ER or Urgent Care Center to get checked out.

OK, Kelly, this has now gone way beyond a few little glitches and got to silly proportions, hasn't it ? From what I read, symptoms that severely affect functions should be treated. Nevermind 'Ride it out' !

Start making some noise and see what help you can get from medics. Best of luck, Angela x

Just getting on here after a little rest, do not hesitate to seek the ER. If nothing else, you may have to go to convalescent hospital until you feel stronger.. Prayers for you Kelly.

I have been in the emergency department for my MS but never admitted. Usually they just pump me full of steroids until I am jumping off the bed. Then they send me home with a prescription for more steroids. That is about all they ever do for me at the hospital.

I spent 6 days in the hospital with another 5 weeks in rehab back in 2013...then 4 days in the hospital and 3 weeks in rehab back in 2015. From what I understand this happens from time to time

I was just got out of the hospital for my MS. I was in there 22 days. The first five were for high doseason steroids and the other 17 were for inpatient rehab for the weakness. I am continuing outpatient rehab but as much as I hated being hospitalized it has helped.

alsparling05 , so sorry to hear of your recent hospitalization. Happy to hear you are out and doing better now.

Of course the hospital could help. Many drs believe in using Solumedrol (sp) or other steroid IV as soon as possible when you have a new exacerbation is very important to prevent more damage. Sorry you are going through such misery.

Amore55, it's Fancy1959. I'm sorry I didn't touch base with you last night I did too much myself in this not doing well at all. But not anything like yours it just took a few Advil for me and a nap and I was doing quite a bit better.

What's up. Do you think your activity level over the holidays has caught up with you? You probably need to go in and see your neurologist ASAP and get his take on how he wants to progress with your treatment. They put you in the hospital they might at least they will put you on some IV steroids which would do amazing things if they work for you like they work for me in the past. But again get in to see your neurologist because he knows what's best to do don't try to handle this on your own if it's that bad with non-professional advice.

Please keep in touch with me and I'll do better on my end. Believe me I understand the last night in the midst of doing too much I couldn't reach my left hand up and punch the security gate numbers at the farm. I got 3 of the 4 numbers punched in and I could not punch in number for it was awful. It took me sitting there for a good 5 minutes before I finally got all 4 numbers punched in. Kelly When I had surgery back in 2015 I was the exact same way for about a day and a half after surgery. I wasn't able to reach up and even push buttons to lower the bed change the channel and the nurses kept the call button in my hand so I just had to use my thumb to push the button.?. down.

Get back to me later today and let me know when you can get into your neurologist. I think it's vitally important to get in there in the next day or two if you can. Tell him what's going on have your husband on the phone telling him as well that way he'll know that you're not making this up this is an urgent visit. Until then get a lot of rest and take extra good care of yourself. I know your husband will be at your side and make sure you use his assistance as much as you need. 🛌😦

Fancy, my husband is typing this for me. Oh, how I love you! What a truly dear friend you are. I went to the hospital, but they did nothing for me. I'm in bed again today. Had some good news from my neuro, will try to type myself this evening and share it. Love, Kelly xx
