Baclofen
Tizanidine works well for me an doesn't seem to make me weak. I have 2 and 4 mg. The rest of the muscle relaxers make me very weak. Good luck!
Marinol works perfectly for me.
Hello Jievy, it's MSFighter welcoming you to this wonderful chat room. I have been on baclofen for over a year for issues I was having on the pelvic floor muscle. It has also helped my restless leg. I have not noticed any weakness that I could attribute to it to date. It can't cause extreme sleepiness and even this orientation, so you have to watch your dosage. I took the dose the doctor wanted me to move up to twice and on both occasions I was so loopy I never took that much again. I take it at night and have no trouble with a small dose. If you're taking a little too large no City talk to your doctor about possibly reducing your toes? Just a thought. Glad that you have joined our chat room. We hope to hear back from you soon. And please keep in touch and let us know what happens with your Baclofen. Remember together we are stronger!
Yikes, toe reduction sounds rather painful, MSFighter. 😂
Sorry, I skipped my nap today and I'm struggling to keep my eyes open. But what a hoot! I enjoyed the chuckle. Thanks, MSFighter. Feel free to proof my posts and tease me anytime. Like you, I enjoy a good laugh-especially at myself!! 💕
No, Tutu, i was had again by this notebook's auto correct! Darned thing drives me nuts! It should have read talk to your doctor about reducing your dose, not your toes! Aaarrrrggggg! And yes I guess toe reduction does sound terribly painful to me too! I'm glad somebody can help keep me on my toes Tutu! LOL
I do the same thing, MSFighter. One day I was 'voicing' a text to my husband. Thankfully, I read it before I sent it. It had words in there I NEVER use! And I don't mean st*pid! 😉 I couldn't figure out how it could misconstrue what I had said.
But I knew what you meant. I laughed hard when I read it though. My husband even asked me what was so funny.
So I thank you for the chuckle. Seriously. I know you didn't mean to, but you really made my day. I hope I didn't offend you by bringing it to light.

Hi Jlevy and welcome to this amazing chat! I'm kinda in the same boat as you are with the Baclofin, except that lm allergic to it. Ugh At this point and time, fortunately l dont have any spasms. They have given me flexerol, but it doesn't work for me.
Some ppl have said that botox injections work, so l will be asking my neuro about that. Good luck
Welcome again
I take baclofen and tizanidine. If baclofen is an issue for you ask about tizanidine.
JeenaRae what exactly is tizanidine?
It's a generic form of zanaflex which is muscle relaxer
I'm putting Zanaflex in my meds note pad now, so l remember to ask about it. Thank you JeenaRae
Jesmcd2 I take Baclofen and Tizanidine (Zanaflex) generic because Baclofen was originally not helping my painful spasms. I now take 1mg in the morning and 2mg at night because a full 2mg during the day made me sleep the day away, and that was not good. Hopefully your doc will give a script for Zanaflex
Hello jlevy, used to take 2 10mg pills of bacloflen a night noticed it made me very weak now I take 1 10mg pill a night and it works fine, GOOD LUCK with what u do!
Hi, jlevy. I was on Baclofen for several years, and it wasn't particularly effect. Now I have a Baclofen pump (Medtronic ITB). It delivers the baclofen directly to the spinal fluid and has made a word of difference for me. And I especially appreciate the fact that I don't experience drowsiness. I also take Ampyra for a boost of energy.
Thank you for the information.
I've read that the top 3 meds for spasticity are Baclofen, Tizanidine, and Valium and have used them all. Tizanidine interacts with many other meds, so I had to stop it.
I saw an MS webcast once interviewing an MS Nurse Practitioner. Her best advice was bike riding as this stretches out the muscles.
Spasticity is the worst for me right before bed and during sleep. So, I bought a small stationary peddler (no seat) that I use from my recliner for $99. I use it almost every night and it is very helpful.
Jlevy The only one remaining I can take is Robaxin, which is very weak, an I must take 6-8 a day. But it is the only muscle relaxant that doesn't cause low blood pressure, I have tried most of them. I was on Flexiril, and began passing out, and that lasted over 2 years, A "titlt table test" was done and I was diagnosed with Syncope aand put on various blood pressure medications. A lot of trial and error later, it was decided that flexeril was the cause, and not go on any that affected blood pressure. It was a terrible adjustment, but Robaxin is finally working and I no longer get so weak I pass out!
