I have thick hair and found it hard to do, and in the end cut it just above my shoulders.

Hi Esharleen. It depends on how well you are coping with the length of your hair in the first place & also what type of surgery you are having. I had longer hair when I had my op which I tied up on top of my head in a top knot for my op which was through the front of my neck (I had an anterior cervical discectomy) & it was ok. If you have a posterior op, they sometimes shave your hairline at the back & then your longer hair can cover it whilst it grows back. I found that with myelopathy symptoms I was struggling to maintain my long hair because it hurt my arms too much to wash & style my hair, so I took the decision to go short & I don't regret it. If I change my mind I can always let it grow back. Do what feels right for you. Good luck. X
