Looking for some guidance, whether it's about your skin disease, the process of being treated, or ways to help the BSF fundraise? This is where to post your question, and a fellow supporter who may well know the answer will reply (hopefully!)

Itchy palms and soles of the feet. Started about a day ago. A little bit of swelling also. What treatment can I use?

Hi Alexis, you really need to see your doctor. Itchy, swollen palms & soles can be caused by lots of things, e.g food allergy, eczema or other skin condition, or an underlying health problem.

All the best.

I am and English pensioner, now living in Phuket Thailand for the past 14 years.

A few months ago, October 2014, I eventually wound up at a Dermatologist at the

local hospital and showed her my itchy spots and red rash on my chest. The itchy spots at times can be everywhere on my body.

The dermatologist quickly explained "Transient Acantholytic Dermatosis" or for a short name "Grover's Disease". Wiz Bang, onto very expensive creams and lotions all over, followed by an ointment containing Calcipotriol & Betamethasone, small application to the worse sore/spot once a night. lastly, one 10mg tablet of Isotretinoin after dinner each day.

Now into my fifth month, there is obviously some slight improvement, but the itch remains. Also it is very hot here at the moment, which doesn't help.

I have looked it up in various manuals, which gives an unhelpful resume that it probably last for 10 months or so....blaa blaa blaa, not sure why it starts, when it ends, but obviously dry skin plays its part.

Like many aliments one comes across, the general advice is "Live with it"?

Is that the best that today's medical practitioners can do?

Thought I would like to get my moan off my chest.

UncleDerek.
