I have a good friend who has MS. he’s been dealing with a skin issue for months. They have tried steroid creams, Vaseline and cotton gloves, and now the 8th prescription will cost $1200. He just had allergy tests done and nothing conclusive. It is on both hands. It has traveled up to the elbow on one. He also has had areas on upper back. They are desperate for answers. He’s in a wheelchair so it’s hard to use his hands with this as it’s painful. Thank you

Hello this must be distressing. Has he had a scraping taken and examined? Has fungal infection been ruled out?
He has had both done. Unfortunately neither produced a diagnosis. Thx
This must be both frustrating and distressing as well as being expensive in the US. Is the skin actually cracking and breaking? Does a generic emollient cream help at all?
It is cracking. They’ve tried so much. All day he does Vaseline and cotton gloves
Oh dear so vexed for him. As a lifelong eczema patient in the UK I now have it under a sort of management using a soap substitute for hand and body wash, and emollient cream (Doublebase gel) night and morning after washing the old stuff off, with corticosteroid ointment for flares. But it's not easy and what suits me might not suit anyone else even with a similar skin problem.
Oooh I get that too , I have eczema /atopic dermatitis, after so much itching to the point that I wanted to chop my hands off , I have discovered it's an allergy to metal! Even my I phone, cutlery in fact anything metal even jewellery, it's worth investigating?
