Hello, when we use steroids, it can thin the skin and this can cause infection. The skin hospital nurses always told me to use a emollient cream after washing and put the steroid creams on afterwards. Keep your skin moisturised through out the day and it “prepares” the skin for the steroid cream. I’m not sure what your prescription is but I was only allowed to put steroid cream on once or twice a day.

If this doesn’t work, it may be that the steroid cream is too strong so you could ask your GP to change it.

I hope you’re feeling better soon

Thanks that makes sense! The doctor told me to apply steroid cream first and then apply emollient afterwards

If the eczema is scratched and the skin open it can lead to a infection, what they call a secondary and infection which is caused by germs/bacteria having a easy access. If it is a infection it should be treated so you need to talk with your doctor they can see if it's an amazing infection and give you the appropriate treatment and advise.

Sorry about the reply it's a good lesson to read it before replying. Flipping pre-emptive text. Hope you have been able to make sense of it as there appears to be words added that I didn't even write for some reason. Maybe time for a new phone. 🤔🤣😂
