Dry, Leathery Patches on Back

Its been about a year and a half since I first noticed the dry patches and wrote it off to dry weather. However it's hasn't gone away, it's itchy on my chest but not on my back or neck. What is concerning to me is the line of skin on my back continues to spread and started off on the low end of my back and has now gotten up to the small of my back. Anyone know what this might be?

I would head for GP and as for check that it's not a skin infection, and/or referral to dermatologist.
