Hi everyone, I joined here to have a better understanding of OCD and try to help my partner who is suffering from severe OCD. I find it hard to deal and support and it affects so much of our lives. Hoping i can learn from your stories.

Advice to help a loved one
I recommend learning as much as you can about OCD and his "type" to better understand what he is experiencing. A helpful book for me to better encourage and support my daughter is Jon Hershfield's book "When a Family Member Has OCD." Also, iocdf.org is a good source for information and resources about OCD.
Thank you. Found that book to be recommended a lot. Just got the audiobook and will give it a shot. Our lives just go around OCD.. from not eating properly to clothes having to be in a certain room because they will spread the smell and there will not be cleaned anymore is really a lot to deal with. And I can see he is desperate and not able to handle all of this to the point he comments about suicide is easier..
There is help for those who struggle with OCD. Is your husband willing to seek help? I know folks who have received help from NOCD at treatmyocd.com/
Even I know people who have used NOCD and had favorable outcomes. Worth a shot. treatmyocd.com/
It can be difficult to cope with a loved one’s OCD. However, it is important to be compassionate, supportive and non-judgmental towards your loved one. Also, encourage them to seek professional advice/intervention.
