I'm new, OCD skin picking type-- HELP

i was just diagnosed with OCD-- i have a couple obsessive compulsive behaviors, but the focus is on skin picking. I'm extremely insecure about it, and i have scars and scabs and they really bother me and make me hate my body. i have alot of acne on my face and back, which leads to picking and picking-related anxiety. my cuticles and the skin around my fingernails is torn up and rough, and despite my shame, i cant seem to stop. I have some sort of mental block that doesnt allow me to leave my skin alone unless its perfect (which it never is because of the acne). HELP!!!

I am so sorry to hear that you are going through so much pain with skin picking.

I think it is a good idea if you can find a therapist and Psychiatrist who specializes in OCD in your area.

Medications can help with the resisting of compulsions, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can also help with the obsessive behaviors.

Also, Exposure Response Prevention, a type of therapy, can help in OCD.

I found aloe Vera mitts to wear and weighted blanket to calm my anxiety at night when my picking is so bad . Take care I hope you are well
