2 years ago I stopped a long-standing medication and something changed within me. That year I piled on weight with lots of fluid retention. But that wasn’t the worst thing. I had horrendous pain running through my body especially in my hips and legs. It was worse in bed. It felt flu like, sort of electrical like nerve pain. It was honestly so awful. Back and forward to Drs countless times with bloods showing no results for anything.Kept being told it was fibromyalgia but I knew it had to be something I was taking or eating. A chance conversation with someone about my pain informed me she had Aspartame induced fibromyalgia. Strangely I had changed from full fat Coke to diet Coke when I was gaining weight. And that contains the sweetener Aspartame. I said I would give it a try and within a week all my electrical pain had subsided. I couldn’t believe it. I found a research study about 2 people with exactly the same thing. For some people it is toxic and that was me. You may have another reason for your pain but just incase it’s that I wanted to share my story. How many others are suffering in daily pain when it may be a simple cause. Thanks for reading. Susan

Hi Susan thanks for sharing your story. I was only diagnosed last year with fibro but suffered with so many weird things through the years. Food intolerances, drug intolerances, ibs, artheritus. I dont take any meds as i am pretty certain will react (do with just about anything ive ever been given) I have noticed more so in recent times that gluten wheat and sugar all give me pains though my entire body after i eat it. I eliminated it completely for a few days and felt so much better. Just trying to limit it ie no bread pasta etc at present as have a lactose allergy too (very unusual). Basically i can barely find a thing to eat no dairy, wheat , gluten and sugar! BUT it makes a massive difference eliminating it. There are definate links.
