No visiting a challenge

It's only a matter of time now before mum's nursing home announce they're stopping visitors. They've stayed open as they appreciate how important contact is for the residents. Our CHC funding assessment this week has also been pulled which is a shame, we'll continue to self fund, we had an offer on mum's property but I'm fearful that won't complete now.

I'm taking the view that everyone has financial concerns and we'll just weather the storm. I'm much more concerned about the effect this change of not having contact with us will have on her symptoms and us not being able to help the home by being there. We've planned as much as we can but very sad times given we don't know how much longer she has and we'd got to a place of a bit of stability on her quality of life.

My thoughts are very much with you all - sending you all strength and even more resilience than you all already have!

Hello Trudy. I so feel for you, this dreaded condition is bad enough without still more anguish being put upon you. I'm sure the carers will take good care of your mum and you will know that stopping visitors is for everyone's benefit but that doesn't make it any better.

Stay safe yourself, take care, Ian x

Thank you - we got the news this afternoon the home will stop visits tomorrow. Mum is aware and is being very understanding of how serious this is, she's pragmatic that she's in the best place and at least she's not on her own as she would be at home and the food is good (!) GP will assess her on Thursday and we can phone - she also wants letters!

My dads nursing home has done the same as from tomorrow but are allowing me and mum to visit for a bit longer as dads wellbeing will suffer we are doing everything to keep him Safe I have older children but pulled my son from college as my dads at risk but they may even stop that so I plan to visit at he’s window just so he knows we are there 😔😷😔

If mum deteriorates the home will allow us to visit. I'm hoping she will settle, the home was very calm today. Really feel for the staff and what's coming.

I felt very useless as I was dropping off final items this morning. One thing the activity people are doing is planting up the garden so the view for the residents is lovely and maybe they'll be able to get them out when the weather is better. I'm sending in some seeds!

Yes awful the thought of not being able to visit , my dad is in hospital, luckily we can still visit as he is very poorly, but only one at a time , he is very aware, so would notice if we didn't come , look after yourself, and hopefully the virus will be gone asap

Love Elaine xx
