I have pv. Does anyone else suffer from very sensitive teeth? Checked by dentist and they are all ok.

I too have PV but not been affected in the dental area. In fact I had an extraction a few months ago - first in nearly 50 years - and the although the dentist was appreciative of being informed of my 'condition' he didn't seem unduly bothered about it.....

Hello, I'm a dental nurse and my husband a dentist. If a patient is stable, (any illness etc) there should be no worries really. If the dentist is wondering about things, they always ring the doctor you have given the address, telephone number to, to double check.

I have E.T. so might be different , but I have never had sensitive teeth and asking my husband now, he cannot recall that it would in any way effect your teeth that way, BUT medication might have a bit to do with it. I know that bleeding gum is a bit of a side effect... So, bearing in mind, no one is the same, I would ask my doctor again. (or try some of the good toothpastes that prevents and help sensitive teeth, cannot name one here as I would be unprofessional to do so). Hope this can help a bit?

Hi Swede and Kevin JH, thank you for your prompt replies. Will take your advice on board. I was using the appropriate toothpaste but will try another brand. Teeth are not sensitive to hot and cold - its weird!

Hi, just a quick answer.

If the teeth are sensitive to hot or cold, it is something else! Then we are talking inflammation so.(possibly needing Root canal treatment)

You don't suffer from that as you say so,

you go ahead and try another brand of sensitive pro relief tooth paste.

Also, the dentist can put a bit more potent gel on your teeth, if you like and need.

Good luck!

I have to say that sometimes I experience bouts of extreme sensitivity in my teeth but until now hadn't considered the possibility of the 2 things being linked. I too have PV.

I have ET, last week my platelets were quite high, over 1000, during that period my teeth became very sensitive. Platelets are down now, also teeth back to normal. It was a very strange experience!

I had a period of extreme sensitivity where all my teeth seemed to ache. It was horrible while it lasted but then thankfully it passed and went back to normal. I have PV and couldn't link it to anything although it did happen when my platelets were raised.

That's interesting, will note when it happens again to see if it ties in with a rise in platelets.

Best wishes Aime
