How is ET classified?

Have got very confused reading different site and information. Is ET classified and a blood disorder or is a form of leukaemia?

Different docs have different definitions. I always say it is a "Chronic malignancy of the bone marrow" but the World Health Organisation consider it a type of Cancer.

Thanks for you answer. I have made a claim on a policy I have got for types of cancer which leukaemia is included. But they came back saying it not a primary site as a first ever diagnosis. This is such a grey area, not holding my breath with regards to an appeal.
