Anyone else noticed a considerable difference in skin texture whilst on meds, may seem shallow but find it difficult to deal with ideas?
I have drier skin -psoriasis is alot worse, and harder to shift. No one else in my family has psoriasis, and mine appeared just before my condition was diagnosed.

I have had outbreaks of eczema, which seem to be linked now avoid certain foods as well. But things do seem more difficult to clear up.

Yes, my skin is also terrible - have had several outbreaks of eczema very difficult to get rid of. Seem to be allergic to so many creams also.
Sometimes I think I've got rid of a rash and suddenly it flares up again - my GP has prescribed a very rich body cream which does help somewhat.
I have had intermittent problems with dry, flaking skin as well as rashes on the face.
I've had rashes too - although I was told it wasnt related, once my platlets dropped (via meds) the rashes vanished!
I have constant dry flaky skin. It has got worse after starting treatment with hydroxycarbamide and I do wonder if the flaky skin is the cause of the aquagenic pruritis many of us seem to suffer from. It would make sense. I find the shower is the worst culprit and do much better with a shallow bath with a squirt of baby oil. I found it made a big difference.
Hi there, I have not been able to have a shower for 5 years now, I have to have a warm bath morning and night..... This makes my life very difficult indeed, travel is a huge challenge for bathing etc.....one of those silent symptoms that you do not like to talk about....... The vibration of the shower or rain or even in the beginning with any form of hard contact on my skin would send me off to the point of being in hospital to have adrenilan shots to calm down the itch, histeria ensues and on the cycle goes, my Oncologist understands this and the Hydroxy assists this to some degree..... Anyone else have vibrational issues with their skin?
I also have dry skin since on medications to treat my et and do know meds make your skin alot more susceptible to sunburn etc so to use higher factors - have got a prescribed skin lotion from docs which helps my dry skin patches which are mainly on arms
I used to have really good skin, but having now been on hydroxycarbamide for 3 years I have really noticed the drying effect. I went to my GP to show her the horrible spidery capilleries that have appeared on my ankles.. this is my now bad circulation and she suggested that I moisturise at least twice a day!! E45 cream is great and a Dead Sea Lotion.
ive been on the hydrox for just over a year and i noticed the skin on the heals on my feet have started cracking, ive never had this problem before.
Thanks all I have been on Hydox for 9 yrs and I think I have tried most if not all of the above, still seeking that cream that really does the trick, I must admit though that lack of sunshine does not help me, am actually better when the sun is out!! Thank you all though for your input.
Hi Gosh99 - have you tried Doublebase ? Available from Boots I've used it now on recommendation from a chemist friend originally for dry/cracked skin during the winter months and it's the only thing I've found to work. Also, when used in conjunction with Aqueous i/o soap etc. the pair used together have been marvellous. hth
