Hi all,

Looking at other peoples experience of above.

I have been experiencing bone pain on and off for some years, more recently getting more regular and in unusual places…or should I say I am wondering if anyone else gets bone pain in unusual parts of their body.

I have had it a long while in the back of my hip area ‘called llium’ right at the back just on one side currently and it can get quite uncomfortable p, I also get it on my hip bones when I sleep on my sides, it wakes me up in pain ‘Greater trochanter’ bone (I’ve looked these name areas up, lol)

The Most unusual area is my lower wrist ‘scaphoid’ the ball knuckle bone. When I first started with that last year I went to see the GP as it was so painful and I went to pick a bottle up and couldn’t grip, I was referred to rheumatologist of which X-rays were done on all these parts and it didn’t show anything other than my fingers which I do have osteoarthritis (per X-ray ) Anyway this went away for a long while and has just started up again recently, now I’m thinking it’s the bone pain same as my other areas, spreading around my body.

I am just asking if anyone else gets it in unusual areas please it would be interesting to know.

I will be speaking to my specialist nurse on next appointment but it’s not for a few weeks

I was on Peg interferon for 2years but now the shortage has caught up with most of the UL, I have recently been changed to Besremi injections. I have only been on these for about 10 weeks but actually that’s when my hips and wrists have started up again, therefore it could be due to changing or I may need the dose increasing. I will keep you posted

Morning Yes I do get bone pain in all sorts of places and the fact it goes away almost completely…. Before it returns confuses me and means I get nowhere with medics ..

I get pain generally in long bones but the unusual are pubic bones and ischial tuberosity the sit upon bones as I call them . It is like having ants in my pants ! Which is how I explain it to doctors ! I cannot sit down I take a foam horseshoe ring on car journeys .. when it is really playing up … pain killers codeine at night … then it goes ! Until the next time .. perplexing .. good luck L

yes, bone pain is my most constant symptom except fatigue. Mostly it’s in my shins, feels like shin splints. But more recently I have been getting it in my fingers and toes, top of foot, and elbow to wrist! All feels random but it’s there. I e been through the GP and tests for other causes, and except for a hint of arthritis in one knee, there is nothing to see. Bone density scan showed good bone density. 🤷🏻‍♀️ who knows. Frustrating but I just deal with it.

My haematologist said it could be when the bone marrow is over working and producing the ‘bad’ platelets. I’m not sure how much scientific evidence there is for this, but seems plausible.

If you get any feedback it would be good to know.

I could have written this Grendall! Yes my symptoms very similar. I see a specialist physio every 3 weeks to get rid of the backside pain on the right hand side. My fingers (mainly thumbs) and especially feet are painful. Some days worse than others. Been on HU 7 years. Not found much that helps …I just get on with it although it’s making it difficult to play golf!
