Last month have been taking 2 hydro tablets Saturday and Sunday and still 1 rest of week. My problem is have started to get white lights flashing in my eyes. Have no one as a councillor to ring and feel a bit on edge. Still no dexta scan results, taken 28th November. Rang today and said not seen yet. That was the hospital. Have for over a year pain in left leg from foot to thigh. Swelling and cramp. Sorry to moan but feel like getting no where. Should I just wait for next month when I get my bloods taken and hospital results .

Migraine
Hi mag123ben - Do you normally suffer migraines and if so do you usually have an "aura" before migraine onset? The white lights flashing in your eyes may not be related either to migraine or to your recent diagnosis.
Flashing lights like that can be related to detachment of the retina in your eye or even partial detachment. It is important to see an optician quickly regarding this.
It is a difficult time for you with the newness of your diagnosis and starting on HU. I have been taking HU for 2 - 3 years now and at present take 500 mg daily with 1000 mg on Saturday and Sunday.
I am not in a position to advise you regarding any relationship of the flashing to your MPN but I do think you should investigate it now. Perhaps someone else will come on with further advice. Good Wishes
While migraine aura might be possible, that sounds like it could be flashers, which are a sign of an issue with the retina. flashers are unrelated to the MPN. Flashers are caused when the vitreous gel in the eye pulls away from the retina. You may also experience floaters, which appear like specks of dust floating in your vision.
Persistent flashers require prompt medical attention due to the risk of a retinal tear. I have persistent posterior vitreous detachment and a history of two retinal tears. I have strict instructions to treat persistent flashers as an emergent situation and to seek immediate medical care should they occur.
Suggest that you contact an ophthalmologist promptly for an assessment. I am followed by both a regular ophthalmologist and a retina specialist due to my history. I am not taking chances with my vision.
Are you seeing a MPN specialist? If not I would ask.for a second opinion.
