I have looked at past posts regarding having PV and getting Botox, however, I just wanted people's input regarding whether they get Botox AND are on blood thinners.
I know its not a TOP priority, but I loved my frozen face 😁, and I have one of my best friends wedding in September, I'd love to have it again for the event. Some of you will all understand this would feel like a bit of normality after being up-ended after discovering my JAK2 mutation. I'm early days of diagnosis (Nov 2023) but its felt like a long slog of not feeling like the me due to side effects of the medications & PV.
I am on Peg Interferon and Blood Thinners (Apixaban) as I had a clot, so I am High Risk PV.
I, of course, will check with my Hematologist, but some anecdotal examples would be good to hear! For context I'm in the UK.

As most of y’all know I work in dermatology. So it is a crime if I don’t take advantage of what we have to offer.😆. I have Botox every few months. I am on ASA and Besremi. I have no problems. I don’t do fillers just because I don’t want to. I asked Dr V at MDA years ago and he said it was fine. And I haven’t had any issues. So, I think you would be ok. If you are on a blood thinner like xarleto or plavix, etc. May need to hold a day or so. They should tell you. No big issues with bleeding and Botox but bruising. I don’t stop my ASA and I haven’t had an issue. Talk to your doctor but I have done it for years.
I have both Botox and filler...have been doing Botox since my diagnosis of ET/PV 2016 and added filler over the years. I am 70 years young this month and started on a low dosage of Jakafi last year when Hydroxyurea proved to be too much for my system. I have had no problems or side effects from either Botox or fillers to date, other than some bruising at the injection site. I've come to accept I'll bruise, however I do eliminate aspirin and Ibuprofen several days before my service to hopefully cut back on any bruising and any bleeding that may occur. Otherwise, I just live with them, as they are minor and fade in a week. I use some coverup cream if I'm concerned. I have had people say " you have a smudge on your face, etc " to which I usually just tell them the truth and laugh about it!.
Thank you! I bruise so easily anyway, I can cope with that! I'm going to get my Botox after I speak with my Dr. I'm determined. Saw myself on a Zoom call today and I REALLY want that Botox 😅
