thank you all so much for your varied and helpful replies and to Andy T for the link to Blood Cancer UK’s information. It looks like it might be advisable to have the vaccination but I’m going to ask first if it will be the Pfizer one as I will refuse it if it’s Moderna. I’ve always had the Pfizer , 7 times now and been alright apart from usual sore arm. Good luck with your decisions and keep well everyone! Fran

Thank you. That helps me decide. If it’s Pfizer I’ll definitely have it.

I have been getting Pfizer vaccines since the start of Covid and before ET diagnosis. Temporary sore arm was the extent of discomfort. Then last September second year post ET diagnosis hematologist advised to get a booster. Went to two pharmacies where I had gotten Pfizer before and both said no Pfizer available, only Moderna. I called around to other locations with same result. So I got Moderna booster with expected sore arm after. Moderna seemed to make no difference. Two weeks later got annual flu vaccine in the other arm. This second time also got mild flu symptoms for two days. Then I was fine. That was a new reaction presumably due to the flu vaccine. Doctor said that is what she had been hearing from patients and not to worry about it. Should add was on peginterferon at 45 weekly then and still taking it. I’ll go back to Pfizer next time if possible but maybe longer time before getting flu vaccine. Maybe unrelated but I’ll try it and see if it makes a difference. We all react differently so good luck to you. Stay safe!
